At the GSSF match in Shelton this weekend they ran out of the slide lock spring for G-19's. My old AESxxx 2nd Gen was starting to wear which is very common. The new spring is twice as wide as the old and fills the channel. Just something to watch on older G-19's and similar.

Does anyone know when (preferably by serial number) that Glock started using the new spring?

No but it's easy to tell if the spring takes up about half the channel it's the old spring and if it fills the channel it's the new spring.

Darn, that's what I shoulda got done when I shot at Topton.
I have a FRRxxx 3rd Gen G19 that has the thin takedown lever spring....crud...oh well, next time then.

I noticed that in a brand new 3rd gen Glock 19 (G... I can't recall the rest of the series) at a gunshop here in Sant Domingo.
My Glock 19 is a third generation EDA... and has the "thin" slide lock spring. I have over 20,000 rounds through it and the spring has "mysteriously" broken twice. Replacing it has not been a problem.
I wonder and ask you if it is normal/common is it for this spring to break? I suppose Glock took the matter into account because the newer spring is "wider" and surely more resistant, as pointed out in this thread.
What's your experience in this regard?
Mine broke once, so far. Hopefully the new style lasts longer.
How did it break in your case? When did you notice it?
In my case it has happened after "intense" range sessions and the "breaking" occurs/is noticed when I am dissassembling the gun for cleaning purposes.

Broken spring G19, 5000rnds, lost the slide lock lever also.
Noticed when tried to take it apart for a friend slide fell onto wooden deck.
Got the wider spring and the slide stop lever now all is fine.
I had the thinner older spring on my G19 fxx.
