What concealed carry holster would you guys recommend (shoulder, waist, etc). What brand? What should I look for in a good holster?
I usually wear jeans and a T, what I currently use is a gun-belt-bag from final option but I want something more discrete. Something comfortable to wear for the whole day at the jobsite.
My pistol is a TaurusPT911 (9mm high cap, 4 inch barrel).
Thanks.
Milt Sparks VMII, expensive but you get what you pay for.

rod,
go to "uncle" tony giron, his shop is in marikina, right after loyola. from qc its on your left side, across it is a branch of CA Roque. closed on sundays. i'd be dropping by at his place soon to have one made. :)
Agree with 9MX. Or you can get the cheaper Uncle mIke's IWB holster at Twin Pines.
ito sana for me http://www.comp-tac.com/ ( click C.T.A.C)dont know if its available in PI otherwise have it made for you locally go wit 9mx's suggestion.
It's not just the holster you should consider but the belt you intend to use it with. No matter how nicely constructed the holster is, if the belt is flimsy, it won't work well.
Your holster should allow full firing grip, covers the trigger guard, and allows one-handed reholstering (meaning it won't collapse close).
Your belt should fit snug with the belt loop of your jeans to minimize play.
Check these sites out:
www.thewilderness.com for belts
www.orcacustom.com for IWB Bodyguard holsters

The belts you can get here. I haven't seen a locally made IWB holster that's good enough. So i suggest you get a IWB holster from Comptac. The Gurkha model can easily conceal a G17 under a shirt. Order from them direct, www.comp-tac.com .

Agentrod, I suggest you get new pants instead. The dockers by Levi's are very good for casual wear. They also have generous pockets for that small PT911. No need for a concealed-carry holster. hehehe ;);f

Wow thanks for the info guys. Didn't know there were a lot of designs out there for IWB. Looks like that is THE way to carry.
9MX,
think i will drop by those shops in Marikina.

Nice holster designs from comp-tac, do they ship to the Phils direct?

Think I got new reasons to buy a new set of trousers and belt/s.

Is there a parking space in front of Uncle Tony's shop? If not, where can you recommend that I leave my car while I go to the shop?

mc_o, I think you're referring to the PT111 (Taurus Millennium). While the PT911 is a compact, I don't think its small enough to fit inside a pants pocket. I could be wrong though... must buy new wardrobe.

you can park on the street leading to loyola memorial park, right infront of those selling flowers. just act as if you're from marikina;)

Guys, I found this over at Kramer website. This might interest those who prefer leather holsters. Then again, it's a moot point if one uses a Glock.;)
What type of tanning is used in your leather?
KRAMER horsehide holsters are made with Bark tanned horsehide. Our cowhide holsters use vegetable tanned leather. The advantages of these tannages is that they provide a leather that will not cause your weapon to rust or corrode the way chrome tanned leather can do when the gun is left in it for extended periods of time. Chrome tanned leather is loaded with salts and chemicals that can destroy the finish on your gun. Want to know if a piece of leather is tanned using the chrome process? Simply cut a splinter size silver of leather and hold a flame to it. If the resultant fire has a greenish flame, the leather has been tanned using a chrome process.
i use a galco stealth IWB for my G27.. but you can try the kydex IWB like RM holsters..

vega,
I was also suckered into believing there was a website, tapos a few replies after yours were topics on leather tanning and a photo of a leather holster, kala ko from uncle tony. - thought my computer was having lapses again.
Alexii,
Thanks for the info on tanning.
Saruman,
On Galco and RM, are they available locally? where?

for the Galco tuckable holsters, you can try true weight.. meron sila Galco deep cover.. for the RM Holsters, you might have to order on line.. e-mail the owner/maker jeff.. he can make a kydex to your specs for gun type, cant, and belt loop size..

Tony doesn't charge that much. The pancake holster (P350)and double mag pouch (P250) set came out to P600 only. That's less than $12. If you want a matching belt, P350 only.
He can also make the IWB models with reinforced mouths for one-handed re-holstering. You can choose different colors from basic black, natural tan, dark brown and cordovan.

Can Uncle Tony copy almost anything? From the pics you have Doc, di ko alam na pati paddle kaya pala niya gawin. And from the pricing you mentioned, he is more than reasonable. Makapunta nga.... ;)
By the way Doc, naka select-fire Glock ka pala? What practice regimen do you utilize for it? I've been trying to develop one for mine also. Medyo experimentation ang kinalabasan. :)

it's now a novelty item. going full-auto with a pistol this small, you're just wasting precious ammo. if and when i carry it, its on semi-auto.

The CTAC is a very versatile and well-made piece of gear.
I carry my strong side gun in a Ky-Tac BraveHeart IWB, but my second gun rides in a CTAC on the other side, crossdraw. It works nicely in that configuration!
It looks like Uncle Tony does some really nice work. He could make a lot of money if he shipped to the USA and charged prices comparable to our market even if he didn't make that many holsters!

yes there is. holster would collapse when the pistol is taken out. but i wouldn't recommend this set up unless your pistol is a g26 or any other of similar length. i've tried it last night and i think its best to go for the "small of the back" set up. as for the holster's finish, it is a bit plain. ithink one can request for a specific design. but i wouldn't bother since its iwb, aesthetics should be a minor consideration:)
one more thing, if you're carrying it either owb/iwb, you should get a sturdy gun belt, uncle tony has good ones at 250 a pop. its priced 1.5k sa malls

some sort of plastic/resin material, i don't think it would last if i sit wearing the holster, which is why i'm recommending the SOB carry

i think it is always uncomfortable when driving with an iwb
i discovered that i can hide a full size usp 45 on my small at back holster by uncle mike. its real cheap and sweat resistant. i wear an untucked shirt and its hidden as long as i dont bend its invisible
SOB carry is not advisable.. look at where the muzzle points when you draw.. you wouldn't want an ND under stress during the draw stroke;P ;P .. plus the fact that it sits on a dangerous part of the back.. a slip and fall on that area might mean major back injury.. MY2CW.:) :)

Mey pinagawa ako'ng holster very similar sa pics mo pero mas manipis na leather. Found it better for the glock w/c is already blocky to start with. Yung clip, like doc eyecutter had posted, is made of plastic orange pvc material. Pretty soon the black paint will wear off exposing the orange color. Pentel pen lang katapat nyan. ;f

i got used to it. i never did sweep myself ever and i can draw and hit an alpha at 7yards in less than 1.3 seconds at the buzzer. that is when my shirt is covering the pistol.(i practice a lot, it never stopped amazing the marine snipers where i shoot when they see me do it. Told them its just practice.)
if the shirt is tucked in i can draw and hit a 15 ft alpha in about a second
my mode of carry is not 90 degrees. meaning the muzzle is canted to the left (fbi cant). Ill take a picture soon and post it here.
its uncomfortable when you sit down. Thats why during driving i remove it and put it under my right thigh.
the mall guards never did search me since im wearing a hanes or a jockey tight fitting shirt. its when i go to the bank and deposit it with the guards that shocked them how i could have hidden a huge 45 on myself without them knowing it.
good luck
guys,
did anybody notice how cesar montano in "bida si mr bida si misis" uses his SOB? is it the propef way to use it?
i think he better change his SOB to a high ride pan cake type on the strong hand side holster. i even saw him drop his beretta or taurus (not sure of the model) pistol in one of his opisode in that sitcom ;Q well...nobody is perfect, just my 2cents.

practice.. practice... thats the best thing to do for that carry mode.. one more argument for that mode is the awkward draw stroke that exposes a twisted arm and an unprotected pistol from gun grab.. but different strokes for different folks..;) ;)

Guys,
Just got my Milt Sparks Versa Max II IWB look alike from Uncle Tony last weekend. I just showed him the picture and told him to make a copy for my SIG-SAUER 228. After one week, taadahh!! To say that I'm impressed with the quality of his work is a major understatement. Me and my Dad spend countless times each day admiring his rendition. In fact, he had one made also for his Commander, and will be getting it this coming weekend. I'm taking this opportunity to give credit where credit is due. Kudos to Pinoy craftsmanship!! ^c
The Versa Max II IWB is a very excellent and well thought-out design. The offset loops make for a very stable and thin profile for the holster, especially for wide double-column autos. I have found it to be very concealable and comfortable, and people in other forums (Carry Issues of Glocktalk, CCW in SIG FORUM) share the same experiences. I left Uncle Tony a copy of the pictures for anyone else who might be interested in having one made. ;K
Here's a pic of the original Versa Max II by Milt Sparks. I'll be posting the actual work of Uncle Tony as soon as I get back my Digital Cam from my brother. ;f
http://www.miltsparks.com/images/Photos/VM-2_large.jpg
And by the way, did I mention that the original costs almost $100 with shipping, and I only paid a sweet P450 for mine?!? One of life's little pleasures....
