Greetings,
I'm curious as to what kind of accuracy folks get on their G19. I have various makes and models of pistols, and the ones I do best on accuracy wise are an HK USP 45F and a CZ75SA40(single action only). I manage to get 1" - 1 1/2" groups at 15 yards doing 5 round strings maybe half the time. Otherwise it's 1 1/2" - 2" groupings. With my G19 it's more like 3" - 4" groupings at 15 yards. I realize this is "good enough" for combat accuracy, but I want better accuracy than that.
So what size groups do you folks get with your G19?, at what distance, how many rounds, etc?

Just yesaterday I was at the range testing my G19 after performing the 25 cent trigger job on it. I was also getting some groups that were about 3-4 inches at 15 yards. I was even getting 2 inch groups at 7 yards. So I took a break. Came back and fired one round at a time concentrating on all the things that it takes to make a good shot. Shooting slowly (no rest) I was able to get them down into the 1 to 1.5" range at 15 yards. I was shooting VERY slowly and conentrating on every shot. Ammo was Ranger SXT 147gr.
I will never be that good in a self defense situation as the adrenaline will be pumping but it is nice to know that my little friend can really shoot if I do my part.

I shoot ALOT, as it is my prime hobbie along with reloading. My G19 is as accurate as any centerfire handgun I've ever fired with one exception. I fired a "worked" .38 special S&W Combat Masterpiece in qualifying for my experts badge and made one ragged hole double action for two cylinders full. Best I ever shot. I really think if my G19 had the trigger that was on that wheel gun it would do the same. However, I wouldn't want that kind of trigger on a duty/carry gun. I had problems being consistant in the beginning with the Glock trigger. The little trigger within a trigger pinched my finger and it felt "springy" "spongy" "rubber band like". BUT, the more I worked with it the better I got and the guns a natural pointer for me. It's like pointing my finger at the target, fast and sights are optional. No need for night sights with this gun in my hand. Try to relax and just enjoy shooting at metal clangers or coffee cans for a few hundred rounds. Get comfortable with the gun above all have fun. Once you become used to the trigger and feel you can work on bullseye. Try different ammo also. My G19 shoots everything I've fed it really great but other folks report some ammo not grouping well in theirs. These little black guns are exceptional pieces of equipment IMO............Mike
I have, on a couple of occasions, shot three round groups with the 19 at 7 yards that were just one tiny hole. They're more than accurate enough.

Once, shooting Federal American Eagle 147 grain flat nose rounds off a bench rest, my G19 produced a 5-shot group that measured a couple of hairs over ONE INCH at 25 yards! (I still have the target--I may have it framed!) Unfortunately, I haven't been able to repeat that, but groups of 2 - 2 1/2 inches are pretty easy to come by.

I'm glad to hear that some of you guys are getting good groups with your G19. I went shooting today, and got 5" groups at 21 feet. I hope its me, and not the gun. For 2 years Ive been shooting an HK45 and A sig 239, I usually get 1-2" groups with both of those. I hope my I can do that well with my 19, b/c it fits me the best, and it carries and conceals better than the HK and the Sig. Grant it, 5" at defense range is enough to score a winning blow, I just want to tighten up a bit.
Thinking about it,I don't think I've never shot better than 3" at 25yd with any Glock.
I probably could but never really tried.
I've shot my G19 off the bags/bench @ 25 yds and took all the time needed to wring out my best shots.. Spheer Gold Dots 124Gr was tops, 10 shots just under 2 1/2". Cor Bons and Ranger tallons were under 3". But it took the Ranger +P+ types to get the speed of the Gold Dots or Cor Bons.
The Fed Personal Protection was just slightly larger but noticeably softer shooting so speed was probubally less.
I did these accuracy tests several yrs ago with my 2ND
Gen G19. Is this the most accurate of my pistols, NO WAY!!. But try CCW carrying the G19 for several weeks then run some IDPA type stages and you will see where the G19 really shines!!
Bullseye shooting isn't where the Carry pistols are going to be at their best. So it's a trade off, more than acceptable accuracy, top reliability and light enough to be carried year after year!! The test of time has ended the carry life of many great pistols.
Today carryability is one very important poinnt for CCW pistols.. Good Luck..

The test of time has ended the carry life of many great pistols. I have been looking for that particular piece of observation and experience for a couple years now - mainly since I'm now inclined to move from my 1911A1 to the Glock line.
I just don't know if I want the 19 or 30, though the 19 appears to be the most concealable, less heavy, and with the "right" holster system, 18/7 comfort-wearable. And with the 15-rnd standard cap mag now available, it should (and I'm sure - does) make a useful defense system. The 30 makes bigger holes, but has all the daily carry deficits of the 1911. 72 soon, the added weight can be tedious.
This is my first post here in the world of Glock... kind of sliding over a bit from TFL/THR - expanding horizons.
Thanks for your insight, JBA111; and to all, I hope to be a good student.

Talk about poor accuracy! I had just bought a Glock 23 (.40cal) to compliment my Glock nines... and EVERY spent casing in the magazine that I fired jammed! On top of THAT the rounds ALL key-holed and printed 5 - 7 inch groups at 15 yards!
I wanted to dump the piece of junk, that is until I realized that although I had keep the (stock) .40cal barrel in my Glock, I had loaded the magazine with .357sig cartridges!!!
I was firing .357sig through my .40cal bore...I know, "Can I spell PUTZ?" Once I figured out the problem, and loaded with .40cal the Glock shot awesome! Just wanted to (again) point out that it is not ALWAYS the firearm that is the issue. Regards, Pako.
Hi ya IronBar, welcome to the nut house I mean welcome to Glcok talk.
I'm a former Colt Commander LTSG carrier man myself. Carried one daily for over a decade myself. But the Glock is just so much less maintence when you carry 24/7 yr after yr.
The G19 is almost as thin as the 1911s so they carry nicely IWB. The G30 is a fine weapon indeed but the extra width is noticeable for me unless I carry it outside the waistband. And I'm not too fond of that.
The G36 is a thin pistol also and carries 7 45acps on board too. just the grip front to back is kinda deck of cards feeling for me.
So usually it's the G19 on the hip or for those times when small is really neccessary the lil pocket Kahr PM9 hides the best of any 9mm pistol made..

Thanks for the reply - and info.
Got here yesterday and been "boning up". Different terminology in many cases - damn... another learning curve.
It seems the 19 can be sweet - or not. Guess it's the luck of the draw. Both my Daly and AR had to go back for problems (now solved) - only my Makarov has been A-OK from scratch. What are the odds in drawing a clean 19?
BTW - what is a butt plug?
Guess I'll have (other) questions... hope you're up to it.
-Andy
Hey ironbarr your chances of drawing a good G-19 are pretty good. From my understanding some of the FXX serial numbers had a barrel tilt problem. The undercuts under the chamber where changed and allowed less tilt when the slide was at the rear allowing the bullets to hit too low on the feed ramp. Fix ranged from a newer follower (supplied by Glock) to a replacement barrel. I've heard that has all changed and the newer models are GXX I think. I've actually ordered one as soon as I can get one with two normal mags.
A butt plug is a plastic cover for the open bottom of the arched rear of the grip. Not a porn term. Hope you guys don't mind a .40 Club member posting here but didn't see anyone answering his question.

Just came back from "my" gun shop - no 19's in house. We had a great gun show a week or so back - guess they ran dry. They'll be more later, no doubt.
Butt plug - hmmm....;)
Thanks again.
