here is one..
taken in Oct 93 with a .50 renegade at about 10 yards over a scrape.
90gr BP, 385 gr buffalo bullet. the bullet had flattened into a minimal rear core with a frontal widened and flattened to over 1 inch wide found underneath the hide on the opposite rib cage.
my first deer i ever shot with a minnie ball type projectile. i can only imagine the brutality of the civil war..with soldiers using them.
22pt (11Rx11L) 138lb (dressed)
i hunted him for 3 years. he was on his downhill slide, his rack had declined from 3 years before aged at 7-8 y/o.

A "thinning out the heard" January 2003 hunt at a private buffalo ranch here in Michigan.
Used my Beretta 390 12-guage with a Leupold scoped aftermarket Hastings fully-rifled slug barrel. Ammo was Federal's 1oz 3" Barn's Expander Copper Solids.
A "one shot stop"! ^c

Here is a pretty large salmon I caught on 9/3/2004 on the Salmon River in Upstate NY. It weighed around 30 pounds and is almost 3 1/2 feet long. I would have had it mounted if it was 5 pounds heavier and a male.
I used an 8 wt fly rod and a black wooly bugger.

NYG...those fish were awesome..
props for using a flyrod...
just so i prove i hunt other things besides whitetails..
here is a pic of me and my duckhound.."J***". a wicked duck hound she is...
blind retrieves out to around 250 yards..on a good day without too much wind..never actually had to use her that far hunting. rock steady and silent in the bind.
she retrieved 77 teal in one morning for 19 hunters.
i cant fish too much due to my hunting affliction...and being married.
my wife has said that if i took up serious fishing..she'd be gone.
LoL.......

This one was good eating!
No horns, shot it on a Damage Control Permit on a local organic farm. They don't like using chemicals and pesticides, but they don't mind me using a little lead to thin out their deer.

NYgunman, you catch those big salmon out of that little stream? Sometimes. There were a few fish in there but not in large numbers. Once it gets colder with a bit of rain and the main salmon run hits, that small creel will be packed with salmon. Actually on that day I was fishing the Salmon River which is a lot bigger and you can't see in the picture. That creek is a tributary and I was at the mouth.
The best way I can describe salmon fishing is that it is like attaching a medium size dog to your fishing line. They run and run and are hard to control. Catching fish in that creek is not as easy as it looks. You have to contend with logjams, swift current and jagged, but slippery rocks. It is awesome!

Thanks, lol. You sound like my buddy NYRedneck. He has a wife, child and a job that seriously hinders his fishing and hunting time. But on the other hand, I see you have enough time to get some nice deer!;f

redhawk44p,
I am new to boar hunting so please forgive my ignorance...but how do you go after the Russian Boars? Do you use dogs?
Also, I love the .44mag and currently have a S&W 629 but was thinking of getting something along the lines of a Redhawk in 5 1/2" barrel for the heavier loads. My questions are:
1. How far out do you trust your Redhawk with open sights when hunting boar?
2. Do you ever scope it or is that a "no no" in boar hunting?
3. Any special work done to your Redhawk?
4. What barrel length do you recommend? You appear to shoot a 5 1/2 " barrel?
Thanks,
Greg

Jim You said it, catching fish out of small streams is alot of fun. I always look forward to spring here in Tx, we go up the creeks for White bass and Crappie. Sounds like we fish the same type of location, a small feeder running into the river is like gold. I always do well in those locations.

here is another one....
a nice deer, probably the prettiest i have taken.
.50 caliber round ball, 60 grains of BP out of the trusty renegade.
25 yards shot..heart shot- clean thru, he buckled after sprinting 25-30 yards.
that round ball is wicked..it doesnt look like much but it is lethal.
funny...i killed big deer with a caplock..
i havent shot a big one..since i bought a remington 700ml.
i felt the need to quell the bad karma the remington by getting a knight disc.
if the good karma hasnt returned by 2 years..
i'm going back to the renegade full time..to purge the demons. i have till been using the renegade for does..on bonus hunts.
here is the size of the bucks i have been relegated too by using the remington.
yes..i really am that superstitious.
