My G19 is relativly new and a 3rd generation. I was always a .45 steel cocked and locked kind of guy until this plastic gun fell into my hand, now it's my bud and goes everywhere with me. In the first month I put lots of FMJ and HP through it to see if I could get it to jam or not hit where I was pointing, didn't happen! Total 800 rounds mixed the first month. I've put an equal amount of Remington Golden Sabers (124gr) through it and never a problem. I carry with the GS bullets exclusively. Probably getting 2,000+- rounds through it in a year. I don't get to the range as much as I used to on a 50h work week but I'll probably double the ammount of rounds this year.

All of mine are into the four-digit range. -- They're so fun to shoot that even a new one gets there quick!

50 rounds through my new 3rd gen...

to all of those posting shots fired in the multiple tens of thousands range: what sort of time frame did that take? how often do you go to shoot? do you reload your own ammo or buy it (the majority of what you've shot)

thanks,
-mik

I've had my old G-19 (WVxxx)for 12 years and have put + 50k rounds through it. About 46K of that are my reloads. It cracked a slide after around 2000 rounds of factory ammo shortly after I first got it. The firing pin went at about the 40k mark. I have had no other problems.

I purchased a back up G-19 (APVxxx)two years ago. It hadn't had many rounds through it and I have only put 500 through it myself, all reloads.

I probably have between 5K and 7K thru my G19. Never really kept a accurate record. I just multiplied my yearly qualifications and schools I went to and got a rough estimate. What you have to remember is I carried my G19 on duty. It went thru some rough seasons of bad weather. I also used it during my Tact team Qualifications and training. It got pretty abused and not much attention. I never had a problem with it. I still have it(We switched to .40 cal in 1997, and I now have a G23, which I really like, bought my G19 from the distributor.) and it still shoots great.

2700 through mine and I'm going on 600 right now without cleaning it. I'm doing my own 1000+ round test to see if it will still function fine without cleaning at that many rounds. I hope to hit 1500, then I'll probably clean it.

So, you shot 45,000 rounds of 124gr +p gold Dot Ammo? This is just something that I do not understand...and I see people doing it all the time. Why spend the money on expensive carry ammo to punch holes in targets?

Think about it:
Case of 1000 at $189.00
45 cases at $189.00 per case = $8,505.00

And you can get a case of FMJ for around $109.00
Which is $4905.00 for the same amount of ammo...and it's not as hard on your ammo as the +p stuff.

So you save $3,605.00 by shooting FMJ to practice, and you extend the life of your weapon.

That being said...I have about 63,000 rounds fired through my 2nd generation G19 over the last 9 years.....and all of it is FMJ except for state qualification, and shooting up my carry ammo every 6 months to replace it with fresh stuff

jake,
the gild dot is our current duty ammo. we only use duty ammo no training, plus being an instructor and working at the range helps just a little.;)

Beat me to that. Our local police shoot their duty ammo, so their guns get a regular diet of the "good stuff".

I'm not a cop, so my gun gets a diet of the generic stuff, and gets the good stuff when I rotate out my CCW ammo.
