We all know the quality of the big name, expensive scopes- ACOG, EOtech, Trijicon, but what of the lesser known, more affordable makers-
Are Tasco, BSA, ADCO, Hakko, and Cobra red dot scopes worth consideration?
Those of you in the know, please sound off.
I want to go with a red dot on my new FAL. I intend to use a mount that will allow me to still use my iron sights.

Some of the cheaper red dots dont hold up to fairly powerful recoil. I have a Target Sports DTB130 on an UltiMAK mount on my AK. Its held up pretty well, except for the knob falling off. It was easily fixed with some loctite, and it has digested several hundred rapid-fire rounds since then. It has held its zero perfectly so far. Not bad for $30

Well, I went to the gunshow today, and I bought a Meprolight Mepor 21 reflex sight. I like it quite a bit. It uses tritium, so there are no electronics or batteries to fail. I did a search on the sight, and found it listed for $349.99- I talked the seller down $25.00 and got it for $250.00. It mounts on a piccatinny rail, so all I need now is to find a piccatinny mount that allows me to still use my iron sights, and I'll be in business. I also picked up a weapon light with a pressure switch, and a mounting bracket, which is made to mount on the barrel. I was going to put some strips of rubber between it and the barrel, but then I got to thinking that the barrel might melt the rubber. Anyone else have a solution for this problem?
