Anyone have experience with these?
I'm thinking about putting one on my 18.5" barreled M-14. Not quite done with it, but almost!
Seem expensive ~$700-$800 new or ~$550-$650 used
I want to do shooting from 50m-400m with mostly <=100m so I think 3x power should be fine.
Thanks for any advice,

Haven't used one of the CQ/T units, but as it's a varible red dot I think you'll be very disapointed at 100 yard or further targets. The dot is 9MOA at 1 power and 3MOA at 3 power, so if you're at 3 power and shooting at 200 yards, the dot will cover approx. 6". Not exactly tack driving stuff, but guess good enough for minute-of-body shots at that range. Why not check out the other Leupold tactical scopes such as the MR/T. Cross hairs are better for longer range shooting, and the illuminated ones should be able to be picked up almost as quick as the red-dot.
May want to check out the Trijicon units too.
In any case, you're talking a few bucks,;g , but quality stuff ain't cheap. Lot's of luck.
I wanted to get one when CDNN had them for around $600, new. People said they were so narrow across the tube that it was like trying to sight down a pencil. I didn't buy one. Lots of good info on them over at ar15.com, if their search function is back up.

I tried one out in a store that was mounted on an M4. For 1X stuff it was okay, but not as good as an Aimpoint or Eotech, and at 3X, it wasn't as good as an ACOG.
For what they want for a CQT, get the 4X ACOG. Both eyes open it works like a dot scope, one eye closed it does good out to 600m

I'll have to look at some other options. The MR/T looks nice but it is too bulky for me. I'll take a look at the ACOG.
I'm building a short/medium range gun (Thus the 18.5" barrel) and I want option to use the iron sights or a small scope.
Thanks,

For real holy crap situations, some models of the ACOG have an M16 type iron sight setup on top of the scope (good for under 100m) for those times when you DON'T have time to use the QD rings to get to your irons. But the irons and many ACOGs are set up with the bullet drop ranging thing for 5.56mm. But they do make a 7.62 ACOG as there's a mess of them on M14s in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I think I'm in love with the ACOG!
My only concern is the bullet drop accuracy from my .308 given the shorter than normal barrel length of my rifle.
Now I just need to scrounge up enough $$$ to buy it.

I have a CQ/T mounted on my duty carbine. I had some real reservations about it when it was originally issued earlier this year. I recently completed a three day law enforcment Urban Rifle class. The class consisted of 26 students that were all LE. The weapons consisted of a Colt 9mm carbine, a M14, several mini 14's and a assorment of ar's. Optics consisted of Aimpoints, C-Mores and my CQ/T. We fired over 800 rounds in three days from 7 yards to 100 yards on steel and paper. We shot a varity of on the clock stress related shooting drills in the day and night from 25 yards to 100 yards from the ground and elevated positions. The CQ/T performed well above my expectations. I was also declared the top shooter for the three days.

It all depends on want you want out of the optic. It would have not been my first choice, I prefer the Aimpoint. But I have to use what is issued. I have all the confidence in the world in the CQ/T.
I will be attending the three day advanced class next month. I'm really looking forward to it.
