View Full Version : G20 Mags in a G29
I just picked up a G29 and haven't had time to go to the range. I was wondering if there were any FTF issues with shooting a G29 with a standard cap G20 mag inserted WITHOUT an A&G grip sleeve. Other than the comfort factor, is a grip sleeve necessary?
I remember shooting a G17 mag in a G26 without a grip sleeve and there were numerous FTFs from the mag. The concensus was that there was enough play in the magwell that the larger mag shifted and changed the feed angle.

I've never had a single problem with shooting the G20 mags in my G29. In fact, when I get home from carrying my G29 for CCW use, I pop in the G20 mag for home defense use (along with my G20). This should give you some idea of how much I trust it...
I've never used the grip sleeves either, I like the idea of being able to use the mag in either weapon.
Somewhere awhile back I had read on this board I believe of FTF problems that were being blamed on G20 mags in a G29. Although one of my friends had a G20, we never tried to do this. It sounds like Bambihunter has tried it and it works. I'm glad to hear that cause I've been thinking of adding a G20 to my safe....;)

I've used it extensively, but obviously before trusting your life to it try it with YOUR guns, what works with mine may or may not work in yours...
A semi-reliable gun isn't worth a few extra rounds...
