View Full Version : Sights For G30
I recently purchased a G30 and the only after market parts I have are the hogue grips and the pearce mag plates. I will mainly be using the gun for range shooting, but while im asleep it is close by just in case. Im am dead on accurate with these factory sites but have heard a lot about sights that are for range practice and sights that are for self defense. Is there really any difference if someone were to break into my house and I had to unload on their ass? My feeling are that under that particular high-stress situation, the intruder would more likely be about 15-20 ft away and i doubt I would try lining him up on my sights regardless of which type I had. Am i right or should I invest in some sights that could be used for either application?

Sup,
I had trijicon's put on my G30.
I would recommend getting the trijicons.

My G30 is my carry piece so i use XSS Big Dot Express tritium sights, they're short range combat sights, but not tiny-group-paper-punching sights (if you're used to them, they can do this too).
Trijicon 3-dot night sights would do the job.

As would Meprolight 3-dot sights (which I have on my G30). Aimed fire is preferable to non-aimed fire, and night sights make aiming under low-light conditions MUCH easier! Additionally, the glow of night sights can make it easier to locate your pistol in the dark. Besides all that, many people find the daytime sight picture of better aftermarket night sights to be superior to the factory plastic sights.
I still vote for the TruGlo TFO sights. They are the brightest I have seen yet and the material structure that supports the tubes is very strong. Not to mention they are the best looking sights. My G-20 looks like it's wearing a tux.
