View Full Version : H&K "undecided" about selling standard cap mags?

Just a few moments ago, I contacted Mark (extension #223) at H&K (703-450-1900) in Sterling, VA. I asked him now that the AWB is over if they will be selling standard capacity magazines to the general public. His response was that they (H&K) has not decided weather or not they will sell stanadard capacity magazines to the public. What the hell do they mean, "they haven't decided" anything yet? :steamed: The ban is over and these magazines are legal to sell and own in all but a few places in the US. Beretta if I recall correctly is offering free 15 round mags for folks that recently bought their handguns and S&W is rumored to be offering standard capacity mags with new hansguns they sell begining ASAP as well as Glock (who I just called) are selling their new handguns with a LEO magazine until unmarked mags can be worked into the system! Now I'm not ready to write off H&K completely and I'm hoping that "undecided" does NOT mean they have no intentions of selling standard capacity magazines to the general public. I love my USP-45 and USP-40 Compact and will never sell either of them. I believe that they are the best made handugns out there on the market. However, if H&K is deciding to go Bill Ruger on us, I won't be buying another H&K product again nor will I suggest anyone else buy anything H&K again as well! :soap: I would strongly suggest H&K realize that while the civilian market may be small compared to their military contracts, a sale is a sale. Come on HK, pull your damned heads out!!! ;B

That's why you pay so much for your H&K. All the heavy duty decision taking they have to do on behalf of their customers.

Won't make any difference to me or my USP45 compact.
But it will tick me off enough to boycott them anyway! :(
On the subject, what is HK's view on producing domestic rifles for us law abiding citizens or are they only for the cops and government? I would love an HK94 and HKM4

TO THIS DAY I HAVE NOT EVEN CONSIDERED A S&W PRODUCT SINCE THEIR ALLIANCE WITH THE GOVT.(HUD) AND I WILL CONTINUE TO BOYCOT THEM EVEN THOUGH SOME SAY THEY ARE A DIFFERENT COMPANY NOW. THAT'S B.S.!!! IF HK WANTS TO FOLLOW THEIR FOOT STEPS MY USP 45C WILL HIT THE CHOPPING BLOCK. BTW HAT'S OFF TO BARRETT CORP. FOR THEIR STANCE AGAINST CALIFORNIA FOR THE .50BMG BAN. BARRETT HAS REFUSED TO SELL TO ANY GOVT. AGENCY AS LONG AS LAW ABIDING CITIZENS CAN NOT ENJOY THEIR PRODUCTS. WE SHOULD ALL CALL BARRETT AND THANK THEM!!!! IF MORE MFG.'S HAD SIMILAR POLICIES WE MIGHT NOT HAVE THESE B.S. BANS.

Well, in all fairness to H&K though, having not decided may also mean that they will just as much of a chance they won't. Only time will tell.

hopefully, HK is just trying to figure out what to do with all their 10 rounders. i say, throw in 2 10 rounders with each new gun so when we buy a new HK, we get 2 standard capacity mags for carry, and 2 10 rounders for range use.
when i get back to work this weekend, i'll ask my guy what he has in stock or can get in the way of mags.

Word on the HK Pro board, from a member who called on the same issue, is that HK is going to manufacture and sell Normal Capacity Magazines to civilians.
In their defense, I am sure they want to sell Normal Caps to the public, it is their interest financially to do so. The company probably was delaying an announcement to check legalities, policies, and all ramifications to their company on the matter. It seems cut and dried to us, but a company hoping to survive in this political climate needs to do its due diligence on the law and aftermath before making a decision. Before you spend the capital to crank out hundreds of thousands of magazines, you might want to ascertain that the politico's don't have some unforseen maneuver up their sleevesthat would make those magazines unsuitable for sale.
If I was running the company, I'd take a few days to make sure I wasn't going to be blindsided by a compromise amendment tacked on to a critical funding bill.
Make Sense?

eek, well, he's only got 3 12 rounders left for the USP-Compact in .40/.357, but he wants $45 each. he doesn't anticipate getting anymore more in the next month or so until everything gets settled.

So how long is HK gonna wait for that other shoe to drop? After the election?
I think the "AWB" will be back in one form or another within a few yrs...
Meanwhile Beretta and S&W are offering free hicaps if you buy a new gun w 10s, and SIG will send you 2 hicaps for $20. ;b
He said HK will sell hi capacity mags to civilians thru dealers in about 45 days.
