I have been looking at this particular pistol($1500) at the range that I normally frequent. I would like to know how accurate it is and the felt recoil.

thank you for the comments.

As a friend I recommend that you dont waste your money, Its a nice weapon with many faults although yes it can be accurate its extremely immensly lousey as well after only Over 100 rounds the gun can hardly be held god for bit you should ever decide to fire more then 750 rounds Like I usually enjoy doing at a range the gun cant be held no more unless your out too get a 1st 2nd and even a third degree burn all in one shot.
if you are in a hurry and need to rack the slide quickly and god for bit your side finger touches the slide releast button the slide flies out quicker then the round itself, LOL. No this is not a joke I had it as well and surely couldnt wait another second too get rid of that pile of ----.

With a Glock 26 you csan fire 10,000 rounds and still be able too hold the gun, huh interesting isnt it ?

Have a very goood day.

Pete

I agree with the not wasting your money part, as $1500 os a bit over priced. But Pete, the rest of your diatribe..................--excuse me while I yawn-.............. is pure comedy!

Accuracy is outstanding, far better than I can generally shoot. They say it is because the barrel is fixed (I think at 110 degrees to the grip) which is supposed to be the same angle of your pointer finger to your fist, so it's very natural in "pointability" unlike (for me) the Glocks. It's somewhat over-engineered in its simplicity. Recoil is not bad at all, less so than in the G-19 I shot for the first time last week. For carry ammo I use Federal 9BPLE 115-grain +p+, certainly proven and effective but more than manageable. The squeeze cocker is a bit odd at first but becomes second nature. One you're used to it, it becomes a natural and comfortable motion.

Originally the "PSP", the P7M8 version (with frame-mounted magazine release) was designed for the New Jersey State Police in the early 1980s. There was a great article in "The Police Marksman" that outlines the NJSP's evaluation and eventual adoption of the pistol. They stopped using it in the early 2000s after a trooper was killed when the firing pin failed. The troopers loved them, but they were old and worn out (18 years old or better far too long for ANY police or defensive pistol) and needed to be replaced. They ordered the P99 with special modifications for them, and the failure rate was astronomical. They were sent back to S&W and now they carry P228s.

It does heat up but that is not that much of a concern. There is a heat shield on the M8 version. Magazine capacity is 8, so that's alot of bad guys and alot of reloads for real-life use.

In addition to my carry P7, I have a brand new P7M8 in the safe that I have no intention of shooting. I'll probably sell it at some point, and it won't be for $1500, that's too high for an M8 but apprioriate for an M13.

I just picked one up. I love it. Yes it heats up quickly, but its a natural pointer. It also conceal very well. For me, I wanted something different than what everyone else has.

I have an opportunity to pick up a H&K P7M8 with the heel mag release (PSP?) and one magazine in "as new" condition for $700 cash.
Good price or not?

obxemt
09-21-2004, 18:00
That's about right. They go for around $600 in well-used fair or poor condition. I don't care for the PSP, but $700 even is probably worth it.

It wouldn't be a carry or even a regular range gun, just something to tinker with and keep around.
I have ugly plastic pistols to do the "dirty work" of daily use.

I've got one which I'm considering listing in the firearms section. I'll keep the old beater and maybe get it refinished. I'm thinking $1200 shipped... what do you think?

Awesome handgun, the P7M8. I love mine and it appears to be about perfect for a southpaw, too!

As to the staplegun comment; I'll amend to that...tackdriver. ;)

Get a P7!!!! $1500 is on the high side for a P7M8, actually seems high for a M13 (unless it's NIB) IMHO. You wont find a more accurate out of the box 9mm around. Trigger is very nice. It does get a little hot if you are putting mag, after mag, after mag in it at the range. Never had any problems w/ either my P7s M13 or M8. A friend of mine has countless thousands of rounds through his without a hiccup. He used his in service pistol matches quite often back in the day.

If you are looking for a M13 try KY Imports. They usually have an add in SGN. Never used them myself. Excellent Condition M13s (no mags if I remember correctly) for under $1k. They sell mags for $50/used or $80/New.

P7 m8 and M-13 are awsome carry guns. I have 6, three M-8's and three M-13's . They do get hot quickly but that not a factor in real world situations. I have never heard of a self defense shooting with a pistol going through fifty to 100 rounds in a very short time. When My dept issued these we had several officer involved shootings, not one Officer complained about the gun gettting to hot to handle!! Ilike the P7's as much as my Glocks.

I sent my slide and two mags to CCR a couple weeks ago for refinishing and also to have the mill mark and stupid warning removed. Can't wait to get it back!

Personally, if I were going to shoot 750 round in a day, I'd bring a few guns since I would get bored shooting any single gun that much. The P7 is a unique and well designed piece for it's intended purpose...compact, fast and safe. People who bash this gun don't understand it at all...and the Cult likes it that way...otherwise we wouldn't be a cult..;)

I love my P7M8.

As some of you guys know I have a decent collection of service pistols so for the most part I could carry whatever I want, my main CCW is the P7M8.

It's extremely accurate, reliable, easy to control and shoot well even during rapid fire, the size is decent for CCW, a little heavy but not too bad and the heat issue has not been a problem for me.

But I will say one of the main reason I use my P7M8 for CCW is that I have two children (a 10 year old daughter & a 4 year old son) and I can not think of a safer pistol to keep fully loaded and at the ready in a house with small children, I have tested both of my children to see if they could manipulate the cocking leaver enough to arm the firing pin, both were completely unable to do so even using both hands let alone then reach the trigger, not that I would use it's design as a replacement for proper firearms safety for a house with children but every little bit of additional safety helps as we all know anything can happen and it only takes one time to be complacent or irresponsible to lose a child.
