I just got back from the Valley Forge gun show right outside Philly and in the whole show there was only one Kahr. I was in shock. the dealers told me that they can't move them. This show comes frequently and just a couple of months ago there were a whole lot more Kahrs. I wonder what happened. A lot of people still looking at service type pistols and smith&Wessons. They make some pretty small pistols now that I would consider competitors to Kahr.

I think Kahr is still suffering the errors of the past. The early Kahrs did not to be honest, have a stellar reputation for reliability and the perception among many shooters is that still may be the case. Consumer products fall victim to this kind of thing whether it be firearms, cars, whatever. Compare the Hyundai of today vs the crap cars the company were building in the 80s. Today, it's a pretty decent car for the money.

Fact is, you'd be hard pressed to find too many complaints about the PM9 as just one example. The word is spreading and that's good. Look to marketing as well. Dollar for dollar Kahr doesn't even come close to the money Glock, Smith, Beretta, etc. spend on advertsing.

I think Kahr missed the bandwagon early on during the "Glock" revolution to compete with the current front-runners. Also, early QC issues did not help. Add to this limited LEO/Gov interest due to low capacity, and not a lot to really push Kahr tot= the top. Too bad.

I think our P9 is a better all-around CCW choice than the G19, G26, P239, and HK offerings. It's slim, DAO, concealable, light, reliable, accurate and controllable given the full grip. (For it's purpose, the PM9 is hard to beat, too). Now, we'll have to wait and see 5,000 rnds from now how it holds up.

I think time will tell given the P series introduction and that Kahr P-series guns will gain more market share as time goes by. It's a good design concept. Especially if a reliable .45 is introduced; it's like a super-slim single stage Glock that works.

Even with the AWB Sunset and the return of the "super-nines" (i.e. high capacity), carrying a mid-size or full-size pistol CCW all day gets uncomfortable. You'll eventualy reach for the "small" gun or leave the gun at home all-together.

Add the fact that the "average" person cannot carry a mid-to-full size pistol unless they spend effort to dress around their carry piece. I prefer to carry in any clothing.

This is a gun show of large proportions. Get people from Philly, New Jersey, Deleware, etc. There were a ton of everything there and so many dealers. I wasn't exagerating when I said, one. One PM9 at the show and that was it. Lots of the new HK compacts. I bet if somebody had a nice setup of the Kahr line-up people would be impressed. Not just the polymers, but the new K's and T's.

I just hope Kahr sticks around for a long time. I would hate to see them go under. It's weird talking to Dottie and finding out that they have Elite 98's in various models but not 03's when it is almost the year 2005. How can a gun company not have a single gun of its line-up from 2-3 years ago. That's like Glock saying we only have a 17 but its from 1999. The company has no inventory of what it sells?

I see that they definitely put a lot of money into advertising, always seeing ads in magazines. Maybe that dog they use makes these expensive guns loook cheap or like toys. AT near Kimber prices, I would think they would use a more spiffy and professional ad. I'm just rambling.....I will stay on the Kahr train though no matter what, or atleast as long as Dottie and Stefan are there. If they go, I sell. We would all be up *****'s creek without them!

It took me about a year of checking out and looking at different types of guns for daily carry. I looked at the Kahr line up for several months and bought a used MK40. It was one of the few autos I actully like and felt good to shoot,my only prblem was the dang grip frame was too small for my bear paw hands. Was at my local gun shop window shopping and found a K40 and it fit me like a glove. Did some old fashion horse trading and traded the MK40 for the K 40 and some ammo. The dealer told me any PM or MK sold like hot cakes at the Ft Wayne Gun Show. My K 40 has over 2000 round thru it and only had problems the first 200 rounds. It is carried everyday and it is no problem to conceal. My other carry gun is a older S & W Model 60 38spl 2"bbl. My wife seems to like it and claims its hers now. I still like my wheel guns and will have one just in case so I am looking at a Ruger 101.I think Kahr has a winning line up but they are pretty pricey and there are still alot of people who thing the need alot of ammo. Thats their choice. I feel my K40 with a second mag and pratice will do me just fine. Like I said Kahr is a good deal and I think its over looked.

The limited Edition __ is a model number, not a born on date. U can find '98's that were recently manufactured.

I'll 2nd this. ^c

FYI, there are Kahrs all over in every Michigan gun show I've been to the past few years... same goes for gun shops.

Must be a Philly thing. ;)

I have found the same limited supply in Florida. You would think this would be the optimal place for the Kahr as small as it is but at all of the Orlando Gun Shows I've been too, there has been maybe a half dozen shown. They also seem to sell at a premium down here.

Michigun,

I go to all the shows in my area and this is the first time I haven't seen any Kahrs. Remember, I am on your side. I am hoping this trend does not follow other areas as did Orlando and Philly. Philly, being one of the largest cities in the country.

Various dealers told me they can't move them and the only ones that sell, are used with cheap prices. From this info I guess people don't believe in the guns worth. I know that making the polymer cast cost more money to make than steel, but others do not. The PM9 looks like a cheap Kel-Tec even though it is far from that. I own a P3AT, and there is a reason that gun is less than half the price of any of these Kahrs. The dealers also told me that the elite models tend to sell even less since it drives the price up. I personally, like the best with all the frills.

I bet all recent shows will have an effect on handguns and put a focus on assault rifles with the ban lift. Tons of assault rifles there.

I do believe that As long as Dottie and Stefan are there, the company will pull through, and we sure know they have the money behind them with Moon, but I can't even imagine the customer service without those two. Buy a six-hundred dollar gun to find out that there is a recall on it and it doesn't feed ammo, than nobody to talk to. Most of the dealers didn't even know about the recall.

Maybe more people should start writing positive stories about their Kahrs and get the word out that they are all not bad, and that their customer service is the best out there, now! Word spreads, and maybe little by little we'll see more kahr's at the show. Maybe even a display from Kahr themselves as Glock had a beautiful and large area crowded with people.

I own a Kel-Tec P-3AT and a Kahr PM9. The Kel-tec does (don't get me wrong, I love my P-3AT) look like a cheap gun and is more prone to mechanical problems right out of the box compared to the PM9. To their credit however (Kel-tec's) they have great customer service. I believe the Kahr PM9 to a more refined weapon in appearance/fit and functionality. Your comment surprises me. ;P
