I live in AZ.,...so it doesn't apply to me. But I'm curious, as I have heard different things about Commiefornia's ban.

1. When does it take effect?
I've heard some say that it doesn't take effect for a few
months or til the end of the year. If that's true, seems
like all .50 production is gonna vortex into there between
now and Christmas.

2. Does the language cover .50 cal. uppers for other "firearms"?
For instance, if a Ca. resident orders a Ferret .50 upper
(which fits on an AR-15 lower receiver) after the effective
date, will that act alone (assuming no AR lower is owned by
the purchaser) constitute some sort of violation? As these
units are not actual firearms, there would SEEM to be no
prohibition to their being sold to Ca. residents.

3. Does the ban also cover non-BMG weapons of .50 bore?
There are all kinds of .50 cal. cartriges now other than
the great and almight BMG. .500 S&W, for instance, .500
Linebaugh, .50AE, and others I'm sure I don't know about.
Is it possible an FFL selling one of these non-BMG weapons
to a Ca. resident might unintentionally run afoul of the
silly statutes of Stupidland?

I am no lawyer:

1. registration by jan-05. I think there is a grace period, but I wouldn't chance it.

2. I hear they'll stamp a serial number on the barrel if you bring just the upper.

3. .50BMG only It is very specific

.50BMG only It is very specific
True. Why doesn't a manufacturer make a .49 BMG? It would require a new bullet and a new barrel/chamber. It would cost money. However, I believe that the guys in CA would love to have it. I think that the cost would be minimal. Nothing has to be re-engineered.

What do you think? I'm in Ohio so it doesn't affect me either (at least not yet). I'm just trying to help the people in Commiefornia.

All they would have to do is bring in an expert from Lake City, hand him the cartridge and ask what it is. Any bets on if he called it a .50BMG or if he would identify it as a wildcat. I wouldn't be willing to bet my freedom on him making that distinction.

I'm thinking the problem with the .49 is not having the availability of surplus ammo. Not everyone is going to want to load .50bmg. That's alot of freakin powder, hehe. Also you would need new cases that were not .50 cases, even if crimping down isn't a problem you wouldn't want it marked .50bmg on the rim.

It would at that point be better to go get one of those TREX rifles that those guys blast with in the videos or something.

I hate to think of the poor politicians when they find out that 408 cheytac beats 50bmg in almost every category once you are beyond 1000 yds. The AWB gave us small handguns with 10 round capacity, it will be interesting to see what comes out of this.
