View Full Version : USP warranty

I have heard from a shooting buddy I met through here that the "lifetime unconditional warranty" on USP's isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Supposedly a buddy of his is the manager of a local shop and everytime they send in a usp for warranty work it always comes back with a bill.

I realy like the way another friend of mine's usp v1 .45 shoots, and as a long term project am keeping half an eye out for a 9mm fullsize police trade-in ($800 is too steep even if "it's what the seals use man!").

my concerns are that with just what I've read here in the last few minutes (I rarely venture away from steyr club) the quality/ finish isn't what it used to be in these pistols and the warranty is questionable.

Thanx for any advice or info.

HK's customer service is horrid, but I don't know anyone who ever got billed while being under warranty (unless the owner voided it). The problem is HK's money comes from police/military, and they help them before civilians.

Either way, I don't think i'll ever have to use my warranty.;f

I don't think there is any problem with the warranty on Hk pistols. From all of the stories I have read and my own experience, if something breaks Hk will fix it.
However, I have also heard the customer service does not always live up to the price you pay. My experience with Hk customer service went very smooth but the turnaround time was over a month, something like five or six weeks. That is enough discouragement for me to never send anything back to them if I can avoid it.

Hi there. I ve never had trouble with HKs repair..you call them up and explain the situation at hand to them and they assign you a RA number. Thats it. Once I had to return my USP fullsize 9mm, I sent it Thursday and got it back Monday morning. That was a fast turn around compared to say Walther...aka Smith and Wesson when I had to return my P99 cause it kept jamming. Took them a 2 months to figure out that it was a slide stop spring causing it. Also found out that my "German" gun was had a made in usa slide. So shop carefully people.
