Well I've always sorta toyed with the idea of getting a .50BMG, but the cost and no idea where'd I'd shoot it always kept me from thinking about it seriously. However, now with the ban taking effect at the end of the year, I've started giving it more thought.

Anyways, assuming I can find something I like for a price I'm willing to pay, where could I shoot it near San Jose, CA? My usual outdoor range (Los Altos Rod & Gun Club) doesn't allow .50BMG and is only 100yds anyways. I've looked around on the web and all the ranges I can find in CA which allow .50 are around LA.

Thanks,
Aaron

There is a range in Walnut Creek/Concord that's a 300 yard range and the two managers both shoot .50s (as can anyone else), and then about two hours south of San Jose is a range in Coalinga that's 1000 yards, and you can shoot 50s there.

Perfect place is Metcalf range in S. San Jose. They take all types of rifles, 50's no problem. Was there one day when there were 5 50's on the line, was nice.

They also have a 200 yard range, but that is only open to the public once a month.

Great range.
