I'm thinking about shooting production class in my area. I'm considering a USP Compact .40 and the LEM trigger. I've never really shot DA/SA pistols very well. I'm considering Glock also but they just don't aim right for me for some strange reason. I've owned several Glocks so I don't hate them. I just don't want to compete with them.

So, why can't you carry your USP cocked and locked and do away with the DA pull?

As I recall, when shooting production, you have to start the stage with the hammer down, gun decocked. It's going to be a hell of a transition for me even with practice. I've tried and it's just not for me. That's why I'd rather have the same pull shot after shot.

at the risk of being burned at the stake for heresy for saying this in the wrong forum...

I plan on shooting production class with my Steyr M40, as several other members of steyr club do. It has glock style dao firing pin and accuracy that converts 99% of glock owners who try one (and the t/t sights are amazing).

(yes I do like HK's and am in this forum to research not troll;J )

"I plan on shooting production class with my Steyr M40, as several other members of steyr club do."

Actually, the P7 & the Steyr share a common charateristic: a very low axis of bore. Put another way, both sit very very low in the hand & tend not to "flip" during recoil (i.e. much less muzzle rise). This helps whenever shooting fast & accurate is required. Either gun would be an excellent choice for USPSA. Do a search using "P7" over on www.brianenos.com for more info on USPSA/IPSC use of the P7.
