The Windrunner has a better reputation for accuracy

Do a search on the Biggerhammer board about the Windrunner. You will find out the good and the bad (upgrades/problems, etc).

The 82A1 is a good (semi) rifle. As long as you are using quality ammo you should be happy with the Barret 82A1.

If you are looking into higher end bolt action rifles I would recommend that you compare the McBros/McMillan rifles to the Windrunner. In bolt actions (with a magazine), I would recommend the McMillan/McBros. For a single shot I would recommend the Barrett 99-1 and the Serbu.

The windrunner is more accurate than the model 82 due to the 82 being semi auto and the windrunner being a mag fed bolt action. I have a M-95 that is comparable to the windrunner. Be sure to pay heed to the warning about the collapsable stock on the windrunner being locked into place properly, it gets its own page in the owners manual for a reason. Bill Ritchie makes a great gun I seriously thought about getting a windrunner in 408 cheytac, but couldn't come up with the money.

I have not shot any Barret guns but A friend of mine had a single shot windrunner.

I shot it a few times. There were two things that stick out in my brain about that gun.

The trigger is AWESOME on it. Dont know the exact poundage on it but it was about as light as I would want and still consider it "safe."

The recoil is HUGE. combonation of the "tactical" type of muzzle break and the light weight of it that thing just plain kicks.

Also it was very easy to transport. It breaks down to fit in a ~30 inch case. Much easier than my 60" of Big Bertha.

Accuracy seemed to be good too. I only shot mil surp ball and AP but is seemed to "pattern" well for surpluss.
