H&K's website states that this model was developed for several European Police Departments. So far as I know the only police departments that have adopted this gun are all in Germany. Any departments outside of Germany use the P2000?

Any one who has a P2000 and a Glock, which one do you like better, if you had to sell one? Is it worth as much as they cost?

I went to a P2000 in .40S&W. The main advantages are Grips to fit every sized hand, no fingergrooves, light rail, Light DAO trigger, fully supported chamber(G-23 didn't scare me)& lower recoil than G-23 at same weight. IMHO

I have a P2000 and I absolutely love it. I do not own a glock but have fired them plenty in the past. The thing I love about the P2000 is that no other pistol I have ever picked up feels better in my hand. As soon as I picked one up I knew it would be my next gun purchase. I just cannot say anything bad about it. As for the price, well yes it is expensive. Is it worth a few hundred dollars more than a glock? Well, obviously I thought so. Value is subjective.

As for what departments use them: Hk and Sig Sauer recenly landed a big contract with the Department of Homeland Security. Maybe some US agencies will start issuing the P2000 but I have not heard anything concrete yet.

A friend of my family who works in the Border Patrol told me a month ago they are going to HK because their Beretta´s didn´t keep up as expected. He said the new guns were going to be HK .40 but the real winner of the gun test was again the SIG but due to the cost of the weapon itself and replacement parts they went with the HK´s.

:cool: Don't know of any Departments that are using them yet, but I'd be willing to bet that it won't be long. I don't have a P2000. I have the P2000sk (subcompact) in 40cal. It is sweet! I used to own a Glock 33 (Baby Glock) and I shot it well enough, I got rid of it for a Sig P239 in 357sig and never looked back. The P2000sk is slightly longer and taller than a baby Glock and I think it even weighs more, but it is more slender and seems to conceal better for carry than the glock did. I personally, shoot it better than my glock. The only thing that would make it better is a Barrel for it in (You guessed it!) 357sig! Have fun & stay safe!;z

From what I understand it's a done deal that we're going to the P2000 .40 HK. I can't wait, My Beretta has never given me problems, but it sucks carrying it offduty. The P2000 will definately be a step up.

I have both - however I just picked up the P2000 last week and only have 100 rounds through it. Mine is the LEM model in .40. Initial thoughts are;

- points more naturally for me than Glocks.
- grip feels better than my Glocks.
- trigger pull is longer.
- reset is a bit longer, but still good.
- LEM trigger takes some getting used to (and I'm not "there" yet)

Hope that helps a little. I don't have enough trigger time to say I love my P2K yet, but it is looking good so far. ;)

I have a P2000 .40 V3 and absolutely love it! It is a tremendous pistol that is well thought out and executed. Would never give it up for a Glock, and I don't dislike Glocks.

Homeland Security just signed a big contract with HK to buy a ****load of P2000's. I've got one and I love it. It's my carry pistol.

when you say the LEM trigger takes some getting used to, could you expand on that a little? I am considering this modification on my USP .45 and would appreciate any input.

Love my P2k and P2k-sk, both in 9mm, yes they are worth as much as they cost, because they are not as mechanically simple as a Glock, the quality is a little better, not to say anything bad at all about a Glock, the P2000's have just finer craftsmanship(metal&plastics). The P2k's have a taller slide, recoil a little less(I guess due to a heavier slide), they do not have as short a trigger reset as a Glock(advantage Glock) but it's not bad, just some time getting use too. I like them both equally, I tend to baby the P2k's a little more, probably due to the cost difference. You couldn't go wrong either way, or better yet, go both ways.
