I am picking up my new/used 2nd gen G19 this week. I was wondering what was a good holster to get that would not mess up the outside of the gun. Thanks...

I have a sidearmour and love it. It hasn't even scratched the outside of the gun. I don't think that's possible with this thing.

The holster is an IWB and I carry it SOB. I use the J hooks but have both.

I took the leather route. My G19 rides in a Milt Sparks Versa Max II. Great holster.

I'll second the leather... I use a Safariland 560 paddle holster, and it has a swede lining to protect the gun. It's what my G23 rides in daily.

I have used a Blade Tech OWB holster for over two years with a G23 and I am very pleased with it. This is the 55.00 holster, not their 20 dollar holster. I have had no experience with their less expensive holster.

Milt Sparks IWB Executive is also used.

I also have used their kydex holster with a Beretta 92 and a 1911.

KyTac's Sooper Hooper II is the best OWB holster I've ever used.

Sidearmor is a close second...for OWB. Their IWB rigs are top notch.

The FIST holsters are the toughest thinnest IWB holsters made right now.

I have a Holsters Plus (www.holstersplus.com) kydex Sure-Lock III-10 holster for my G19. It is the best holster I have ever owned. It has a locking mechanism for positive retention, but you still get a lightning quick draw.

They are a little pricey, but worth every penny.

LoL, no offense Lenny, but this is the first time i've ever read about anyone worried about messing up a Glock finish. I can't think of another finish offered on firearms that is more durable then the tennifer (sp?).;f

But if you're really worried, i'd go with leather. I personally think it's blasphemous to put this ugly beast in anything but kydex, but leather is a softer surface. Mine rides in either a Fobus range holster or Comp-Tac Gurka.

I use a Comp-Tac CTAC for IWB carry and either a G-Code paddle or Blackhawk CQC SERPA (with paddle) for OWB. All are kydex (CQC is more of a polymer, but close enough!) I like all three and would recommend any of them depending on your personal needs. :)

How bout a Side Armor? www.sidearmor.com

I like my 4th Gen Sidearmor holster for my G19C, but it has worn the phosphate finish on the front of my Glock. There are very definite wear lines at the front where it rubs against the holster. I see them also on my G27 which fits in the same holster. It is a great holster, but all holsters will wear the finish if you holster/unholster enough times. I see it as character.

The tenifer treatment won't wear off from holster use, but the black external finish can. Moreover, Kydex holsters are likely to be easier on the finish than leather holsters largely (but not entirely) because of the way most of them retain a Glock.

Most of the ones that i have looked at are costly. Are there any good quality holsters for cheap? Thanks

Don't try to cut corners on a holster. If you do, you won't be happy and you'll more than likely end up not carrying the gun. $30-50 is more than appropriate for a $500 gun. I chose the Safariland 318 which is imitation black leather and suede-lined.

Things that are both "good" AND "cheap" can be hard to find. Some holsters which MAY satisfy both criteria are: Glock's own "sport combat" holster (I like these), Fobus holsters (though many people will object to calling them "good", a number of GTers say they like their Fobus holsters just fine), Uncle Mike's Kydex holsters, Blade-Tech injection-molded Kydex holsters, and Galco's inexpensive line of polymer holsters.

I believe that most of the holsters I've listed can be had for $25 or less. Some are injection-molded Kydex, while others are some other type of plastic.

On the other hand, for about $60-70 (more or less), there are top-rated Kydex holsters available from Sidearmor and other makers.

:) I just received my cowhide Milt Sparks "Summer Special 2" for my G19 (from Brownells), and it is absolutely fantastic. The fit and finish are perfect, it holds the gun perfectly and it feels perfect to wear and to draw from!

Wow!

THE PROBLEM IS MOST OF THESE EXPENSIVE HOLSTER COMPANIES SUCH AS GALCO,ETC.........HAVE NO LINING INSIDE IT IS JUST NATURAL AND REALLY PUTS A HURTING ON ANY FINISH. MY ALL TIME FAVORITE OWB IS A 3 SLOT COBRA TUFSKIN SOFT LEATHER OUTSIDE AND INSIDE THE HOLSTER.I HAVE NOT ONE WEAR MARK ON IT IN OVER YEAR AND A HALF.:)
