Some help please

I am looking to buy a .50BMG rifle. I would like to support Barrett for the stand they are taking, and I also always liked their rifles. I am looking at the Model 99 for price reasons mainly, I also like the idea of a single shot bolt action rifle. This rifle will be used for nothing more than playing around (safely of course).

Are there any problems with the Barrett Model 99? What is the general concensus on this rifle? I've heard of problems with the AR-50, not sure if they are true or not, but I also just read a thread about someone not liking their service.

Are there any other rifles I should be looking at? Or is the Barrett Model 99 going to be my next purchase?

I don't know too much about the Barrett rifles. But, since no one else has chimed in yet I feel it is my duty to at least make sure you know about some others in around the same price range.

If you like the look of the M99 look also at the Serbu's. I've shot 2 diffrent BFG .50's they were both astounding guns for the price. Smooth bolt actions and very effective muzzle breaks. just ask the guy that was shooting next to me :cool:

I've got a State Arms Big Bertha, as you have no doubt noticed if you have read the other posts here. If you have then you know I absolutely love this gun. It is not the killer evil black style of gun. Really except for the size it is quite the opposite. It is truly a sweet shooter. and they guarantee 1MOA or less for all of their guns.

Those along with an EDM arms Windrunner is where my experience ends. however there are a few more that are out there that I have not shot.

and some others.

I can only speak to the Barrett M99 since that is what I have. I absolutely love that baby. I don't think you can go wrong with it.
