View Full Version : Is this a decent asking deal for a 2nd generation G19?

Hello.

Ive been wanting to get a 9mm for a while, and ive decided that the 19 is the perfect gun for it.

Becuase of the issues with the 3rd generations G19s (I know a lot of people will disagree but the fact is that some are prone to malfunction and I dont want to take any risks), I am going with a 2nd generation G19.

They are selling them around $400 at the local gun store, but money is tight right now and $350 is all I can get right now.

I have two 15 +2 magazines (they supposedly have a +p but I can only get 16 in until if feels like it is hitting the bottom) that I bought several months ago.

I was thinking of offering them $350 for the G19, let them keep the magazines that come with it, and give them one of my own magazines.

I will probably offer it w/o my magazine at first but if they deny then I will add my own.

Does this sound like a decent deal?

How much did you get your 2nd generation for?

Thank you for your time!

For a 2nd Gen. I'd give no more than $350 and they better give me the mags.
Things depreceiate and you have to draw the line somewhere.

I'd walk into the shop with $350 in cash and tell them that's all I had take it or leave it. One of 3 things will happen.

1. They'll take your deal.

2. They'll counter offer with a higher price.

3. They'll tell you to pound sand the price is $400.

Not sure how much the dealer paid for them KY Imports lists used G19's as low as $349 with $20 more for night sights. If your dealer is buying several guns at once he's probably getting discounts off of those prices. If he picked it up in a private sale or trade he may have paid less for it.

I wouldn't try giving them my full capacity mags.

If they really balk at the $350 offer you could tell them to keep the mags that come with the gun because you have some already.

You'd be amazed at how well cash put on the table in front of them works. I second vafish, if they don't let you have it for $350 cash, tell them they can keep the mags, you just want the gun.

Listen to the fat man.
Put $350 on the table. If they say no, then grab your cash....stuff it back into your pocket, and walk towards the door. And don't give them any of your mags.

got mine for 300.00, with night scopes and 3, 15 mags. But 350. does not sound too bad off wiht the mags.

Bought mine as a factory refurb with Trijicons added for $425. This was 2 or 3 years ago.

If the dealer won't take your offer, check around the for sale forums. I bought a G19 9 years ago only slightly used for 360.00
and it came with 2 10 rd. mags,2 15 rd.mags,a Glock holster,and a Kramer IWB holster.2nd generation.
I put a set of Arotek night sights on it and commenced to shoot the crap out of it. Most reliable pistol I own, with the exception of a G26.
Look for an individual with one for sale, even if it takes you a while to find it.

Like the saying goes, "Money talks. Bull**** walks."

If he won't take $350 in cold green. There's someone else that will. Just gotta be willing to do some legwork looking for a 2nd gen. FWIW I bought my 2nd gen NIB in '92 w\2 factory standard cap, mags, tupperware, etc. for around $450. That was a lot back then for a dude making $6\hr working at the record store.;f

I bought a brand new in the box never fired 2nd generation G19 with two ten round mags for $425 about three months ago right here in the guns for sale section. Sold off the two ten rounders for $30, (since I didn't need them I had 4 15 rounders) and ended up paying $395 for the gun. If you don't get in a rush and just keep looking you'll find one, it took me about three months to find that one - but they are worth the wait. It's actually my spare, I have another one made in the same year that is my primary carry gun. Good luck and be patient.

Thanks everyone!

They still havent got one yet. I might try getting one off gunbroker if I dont get it soon.

For me, its either a G19 or nothin. ;)
