As several of you have recommended, I signed up for the basic Handgun Safety Course at the Firearms Academy of Seattle. As a 6-hour classroom & range course, I am interested in the thoughts of those who have taken this course. Also, would you recommend their advanced courses (i.e. FAS1 & FAS2)? I appreciate your input. Thank you.

I know Marty on a professional level and, unfortunately for the time being, not as a student. However I do know him to be a very professional Instructor and a good guy. I would recommend any classes he teaches or any that he hosts.

I have trained with Marty personally and professionally. He is part of our old guard of LE instructors here in the state. He is a solid ground teacher. Expect fundamentals and little fluff in your course. The initial course is basics and fundamentals, something I find I go back to every once in awhile to reorient myself.

You will likely find yourself having a good time. When you see him and Gila, tell him Morris from up north sends fall greetings.

I've not trained under Marty's tutelage directly, but I've seen him train others in a pretty demanding venue, one where all the students were certified LE instructors. I have had a class from Gila that Marty assisted with. From that basis I can and do recommend them highly.

Marty teaches a solid course. His presentation is definitely no frills; getting right to the point. I would have to candidly say that he's not in the class of say, Jeff Gonzales, but he's definitely got real world experience and teaches a reality-based curriculum. His FAS-3 course was very good and opened new worlds for me.

The FAS range is great - a wonderful facility in which to train.
