It appears as though I may be getting a LONG awaited addition to my "Glock club," a G26. Plans are to use it as a duty backup to my G19. If you wouldn't mind I've got a few questions.
Does anyone make/sell a good quality SS type guide rod and spring for the G26 like they do for the 19?
Night sights. Does anyone here have personal experience with the factory Glock night sights? I'd need to send this one somewhere for that and would like to use Glock (Mepros)is possible.
Finally, the finger rest thing. Since I've always had the larger Glocks I've dumbly not paid much attention to this issue. I understand that GAP (?)makes a good quality extension? I don't need any extra rounds really, just a little extra finger space. If I can't do what I need with 10 rounds, well, guess I'm just SOL.
Thanks in advance for any/all help and opinions. It's truly appreciated!;Q
Can't answer all your questions but here's what I can tell you. Glockmeister (captured stainless) and Wolf gun springs (captured and uncaptured) have the recoil assemblies. I also use the pierce mag extensions.

I installed Trijicons on my G26 and it shoots to point of aim at 7yd. Don't need no finger rest, just learn to curl your extra fingers underneath. If you put an extension on, might as well use a G19.

Thanks. I've got Trijicons on my G19 and they're still going strong after 11 years. Will deifinitely look at the websites for the guide rods as that plastic thing has to go. Looks as though GAP makes the finger rest I'm looking for.
Appreciate the input.

There are those who. even though they favor aftermarket guide rods in the larger guns, suggest keeping the factory dual model in the subcompacts. Personally, I keep the factory rods in all my Glocks.
Pearce Grips makes a couple of mag floor plate grip extensions you might want to take a look at. One is made expressly for the G26 magazine and keeps it Clinton-legal. The other is made as a +1 for the G27 and G33 (9 round) magazines. Curiously, it fits the G26 magazine as well. You can see these on the Pearce Grips web site and see/buy them on Glockmeister's site or elsewhere.

Thanks Gary. So, you've not experienced any problems by keeping the stock rods in your subs? I'd found the metal ones and springs on the Wolff website but don't want to do anything to mess the functioning of the 26 up. As for the Pearce extension, a friend has them on his G27 and they ARE very nice.
I have the pearce grips on two on my daily carry mags, they fit my medium to largr size hand fine, they look and feel really nice. I have some Le/fed mags too I dont like the extension and look 2 extra rounds, dont matter to me like you said if I cant get it done in 10 Im S-O-L.
I love the G19, but I love my new G26 more Im looking for sights as well, let me know what you go with.
oh yeah for SELF DEFENSE/ BACK UP GUNS leave the internal workings stock, Keep it Simple and STOCK !!!
Guy,
My wife and I operate a pair of G26s. You do NOT need an aftermarket rod/spring guide. In fact, the inherent accuracy of these little guns, as issued, will amaze you. Reliability is standard Glock; i.e., 100%.
I put Meps on ours. I find Meps to give a better flash sight picture in normal lighting, but that's me.
Go ahead and get a plus 2 base of some sort. The slightly rearward cant of these is a perfect place to put your pinky, and add to the bulk of the butt only marginally. The forward-curled extensions, such as sold by Pearce, etc, also work fine. But as a back-up or concealment piece (which is, after all, the main use of these), I have found them to get in the way.
These little guns are ideal for a vest holster, if you're working uniform. If you're plainclotes, then I dunno. Although some do it, to me these guns are WAY too big for ankle carry. Depending upon your build, a belly band under the dress shirt might work.
And if you're in plain clothes and considering a baby Glock for primary, be advised that the medium frame (G19, 23, etc.), WITH A PROPER HOLSTER, hides just as easily under normal business attire. But you can' beat a G26/27 for Mexican carry under a polo shirt. Get the pants and shirt just right, and nobody will have a clue its there.
Back in the Stone Age when I became a cop, just about everybody carried a back-up of some sort- usually a Chief's Special. IMO, that genre is still the ideal general purpose back-up. Nowadays, most of the youngsters I see, even those who are exposed to it by their firearms instructors, have no clue of the concept of a second gun. My point here is that, of the few I see who do buy into the idea, they usually opt for a "smaller" version of their duty semi-auto; and end up NOT carrying it because of the issues involved with toting (and hiding) a relatively large piece.
Please understand that I am NOT trying to discourage you, or otherwise rain on your parade. But I've been carrying every day, either working or off-duty, for almost 26 years. It is an art- some say a black art- that has as many options as it does problems. What I'm saying is, explore all the options you can think of before buying a back-up piece.

Thanks man. Opinions/experience with these pistols, like you've got, is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm a retired Alabama sheriffs deputy that was over a big city/county's K-9 unit and I'm now handling a dog as a part-timer for an area east Texas P.D. Nowhere near the "varmits" that I have dealt with in the past, but they still pop out every now and then. My G19 VERY faithfully served for the last 10 years I was in AL, and continues to do so now. I'm wanting to replace the Colt Govt. Model 380 that I carry for backup with the G26. The exact logistics of this (where on my body?) are still being worked out, or should I say, ouch!
Thanks again to all who've responded. You've saved me at least $40.00 so far.
