What's your primary home defense gun, the firearm that you always keep within easy reach especially at night?

No one could argue about the stopping power of a shotgun

300-500 ft-lbs for the major cartridges (premium loads pa yun!)

1,100 - 1,400 ft-lbs for a 00 buck! Imagine, siyam na 9mm balls ang tumatama at 1100fps at the same point at the same time! Pag nakatayo pa, e poster yung tinira mo! ;)

my svi loaded with hornady jhp with 5.5 grains n320 flying at 1150 fps on a 180 grain head. Thats over 200 pf. On a 140mm mag about 19 rounds of jhps.

and of course my m16 if they want to rock and roll. Imagine firing it at full auto at an intruder ;f

The irony...I have a gun but I don't have a house yet.;f nakikitira lang sa biyenan for now, hehehe. But once the house is finished (next year) I'd get me one of those REM 870 doc EC posted.

I have a winchester slide action rifle in .22 magnum and a shooters 1911 as a "house gun" in my apartment. I recently sold my armscorp shotgun so im looking for a replacement, probably a mossberg. I kinda like the way it looks, but i have never really fired one.

1) Remington M1100 Semi-Auto 12gauge shotgun. 6+1 rounds of 00 buck, and waiting for a 6 round TAC-STAR Sidesaddle from the U.S. to give me a total of 13 rounds of 00 buck on the gun.

2) SIG-SAUER P228 loaded with 15+1 rounds of 9mm 115gr+p Corbons, with 6 spare magazines loaded with the same.

More than enough to handle any intruders, IMO. ;f

How fast can you present your shotgun? what condition is it now?

to clear a jam sa shotgun depends sa type of jam. stuck case? just bang the butt of your sg to a hard surface while holding the fore end (if pump action). ftf? just pump again:) btw i keep my shells on the sidesaddle and butt cuff plus a shell belt close by:) dont want to store a loaded gun.

there is a saying, never bring a pistol in a fire fight. this i do not believe so i bring both.

btw, i never had a jam or ftf on an m16 that is well maintained. This is due to the fact i never use anything but military rounds on a military rifle.

to clear a rifle its the same. pull the trigger, it does not fire, release mag, pull the bolt or the charging handle, let it go, seat a new mag, pull the charging handle and press trigger again.

but for me, i drop the rifle and pull the pistol out;)

Any of you guys know how to clear a jam sa shotgun or sa rifle?

If its a stuck case on an M16, Rap the butt of the rifle on a hard surface while pulling the cocking handle at the same time to give it more force. If you have a collapsible buttstock, make sure you return it to the unextended position first or you'll be dealing with a bent buffer tube. Hasn't happened to me, but this is what's generally advised, its called the "Marine bump":)

Sakin, I'll still go to my pistol, kasi dun ako automatic ang galaw Di pa nanam nag-jam yung Rem870 ko. Unlike my 45 which always finds new ways to cause a malf... ;Q

I don't think presentation would be an issue, since I'd be coming from inside a locked bedroom. Right now it's in condition 2: full magtube, no chamber load. I hope the initial racking sound would scare the bejesus out of the perp, before I even get to see him.

Otherwise, when the s**t does hit the fan, there's got to be no hesitation on my part to splatter the intruders' innards to the wall. (pardon the graphic description) ;I ;)

it depends on what shotgun, benelli's are much more harder to clear than remingtons or mossbergs lalo na yung m1 fields..benelli's need to be cleared off manually i round then rack...

well to each is his own.. i shoot better on my shotgun than my open gun and limited..

Jam in my shotgun? The fastest way for me to stay in the fight with a jammed or empty weapon is to go for my other gun (or in other words transition to a secondary weapon), which in this case is my SIG-SAUER 228. Nothing beats a New York reload. ;)
