Hey Rhino, miss shooting down there in Atlanta, hopfully gas will come down in the spring and make it down there and to wildcat. For us shooters in northern In. Porter county Conservation Club in Valpo shoots IDPA every 3rd sunday registration 830 shoot at 9. New buffalo has IDPA every 3rd Sat. but due to scheduling it does get bumped alot, and they don't pay their club fees but Bend of the River in Niles Mi has IDPA 1st sunday of the month and ipsic 3rd or 4th sunday, sorry can't remember don't shoot it.

UPDATE on the USPSA Pistol Match at AtlantaCC ...

We don't know right now whether or not we'll be able to have a match on Sunday (09JAN05). The range has flooding problems, Atlanta is in the middle of where it's kind of bad right now.

I hope to know for sure by Saturday, but keep checking the AtlantaCC (http://www.atlantacc.net) web site in the IPSC forum for updates. If you're driving more than half an hour or so, be advised that you need to confirm the match is on or you may be out of luck (and standing in knee deep water!).

To all AtlantaCC members, shooters, friends, and associates:

It is with significant regret that I have to announce that our first regular 3-Gun match of the year (23JAN05) has been CANCELLED due to the weather.

Steve N. and I have discussed the situation, and given our usual low turnout and the forecast, it doesn't make much sense to try to hold an actual match.

On the other hand, we are considering having an informal "practice session" on Sunday morning if anyone is interested. We'll probably set-up some steel and blast it with our shotguns until we get tired of doing it, then maybe set-up some paper targets and do some rifle shooting.

Please let us know via e-mail if you plan to join us. If no one else wants to do it, we may not do it and won't unlock the gate if we actually do go and shoot for a while.

NOTE: Due to Easter on the fourth Sunday, there will be no 3-Gun match at AtlantaCC this month. However, we will have a shotgun and/or rifle side match at the IDPA match (above).

Steel Matches at ACC for 2005 generally will be held on the THIRD Saturday of each month. The March match is on the 19th.



The format of the matches closely follows that of the Steel Challenge Shooters Association (SCSA). For 2005, each match will have four stages, (one stage fills a shooting bay). Each stage has five steel targets, which are engaged in various sequences, but the STOP plate always ends the string. Each string starts with a buzzer from an electronic timer, and ends when you HIT the stop plate. You will usually shoot 5 strings; we drop the string with the worst time, and the total of the best four are your score for that stage. Your total for the four stages equals your match score. Fastest time wins !!!



Changes for 2005:

1. A new category, the “FUN” class, for new shooters, kids, trying out a new gun, or just if you don’t want the pressure of being timed.

2. Four stages instead of five. The fifth stage was always a “leftovers” stage, due to the number of targets available. We may go back to five if we get some new targets.

3. Paint targets only if necessary to see them better. I think this will make the match go way faster.

4. Slightly adjusted start times.



Categories for 2005 will be:

Production; Double action and “Safe action” GLOCK, Beretta 92, SIG 229, 226 . . .

Limited; Single action 1911’s with open sights, no compensators

Open; Anything goes (semi-automatic)

Carbine; PISTOL calibers, any sights

Rimfire; .22LR, any sights

Revolver; for all revolvers, Cowboy Action included

GSSF; (Go Shoot Steel Fast) Like Production, but WITHOUT the holster, starts from low-ready - Doesn't HAVE to be a GLOCK, but can be . . .

Fun; ANY handgun you want, but NO TIME HAS TO BE RECORDED



$10 First gun, $5 each additional gun.



You will need a minimum of 120 rounds per gun. I bring 200.

7:00 Set-Up

9:00 Sign-Up

9:30 Listen-Up

10:00 Load-Up, then Bang & Clang !!!

12:00 +/- Clean-Up

This is an "Open to the Public" match.

This match is for pistol caliber carbines and 22lr, like Ruger 10/22.

And, it will have a shotgun stage, 25 rounds.

Setup is at 8am, sign up is at 9am and shooting starts at 10am.

Run and gun is kind of like IPSC with carbines.

Here's how to get there:

FROM I-69 GO TO THE 55 MILE MARKER GO WEST ABOUT 2.5 MILES TO COUNTY ROAD 350-E THEN NORTH TO END OF ROAD. RIGHT 1/4 MILE THEN LEFT YOU THERE.

Hey...that was the other day. Seemed cold. How did it go?

It was a wee bit chilly, although I am sure it was over 20F most of the time! It was a good match, but we ran late because of the multi-gun stages and decided to drop the last stage (pistol only).

I almost "won" my first club match too. I was second in the unofficial combined aggregate and first in tactical. Steve N. did not have a good day (he always wins the 3-Guns shooting limited), and I did pretty well with rifle and made few mistakes than usual with shotgun. So I came close to finally placing at the top ... hah!

On pistol, well ... that's why I didn't "win." On the stage with shotgun and pistol, I had my glove on my left hand to prevent burnage during reloads. I also was wearing an untucked flannel shirt (it was chilly), which I forgot to either tuck, unbutton, or lift the shirt when I went for my mags during reloads. When I did my first reload, the glove kept me from noticing that I had grabbed the mag through the shirt tail, so then I had to sort of roll the mag out of my shirt before I could get it free and into the gun. Then I did the exact same thing again. Those two gaffs cost significant time!

I also did a lot of scoring my targets as I shot them. Standard procedure for me! ;f

At least I didn't get my tighty-whities tangled into that mess. Had I successfully completed a reload, it would have been the Mother of All Wedgies. ;f

I think the cold weather is good for ol' Joey. Everyone else seems to slow down a bit, but I like it better. I certainly do better in the cold than in the summer heat! Maybe we should have separate classifications for different weather conditions?

My dad is coming on Sat. to shoot this time (he loaded up some 157gr. .357mag loads), plus I think I got my FTFeed issue with my handloads figured out (used the Lee factory crimp die instead of the seat/crimp die).

Good question. If it's snow, I'd say we're still a go unless the roads are closed.

Rain might be trickier since it makes things a lot more messy.

we'll shoot his steel plate rack from under the lid, IF weather conditions
prevent a pin shoot.

He left the necessary parts in the shed in case we need them.

We tried to do them all winter, but the weather got in our way. This weekend, flooding and mud will make the range unusable, especially for parking, so no match this month.

Hopefully we'll be in business again in March.

NOTICE: 2007 USPSA INDIANA SECTION MATCH & STATE CHAMPIONSHIP (http://www.wvpps.com/DefaultStateMatch.htm) has been moved to the Atlanta Conservation Club.

The host club (Wabash Valley Practical Pistol Shooters) for the 2007 Indiana Section Championship was notified last week that the land surrounding and partially encompassing our shooting range will be placed on the market for sale. This creates a great deal of uncertainty as to the status of our range for our match in June. Therefore, the match will be moved to the Atlanta Conservation Club in Atlanta, Indiana, site of both the 2004 and 2005 section championships. We are grateful to our friends at ACC for their willingness to accomodate the match. For further information regarding this unpleasant situation, go to http://www.wvpps.com.

Besides the change of location, the move will cause two other changes. First, in order to be in compliance with ACC's agreement with neighboring homes, a slight adjustment in squad times has been made. Second, we will be able to add an additional stage! The original eight stages have been approved by NROI. We will submit the additional stage in the next day or two and will publish the match stages shortly thereafter.

All competitors who have submitted applications for the match will have the opportunity to withdraw from the match and receive a full refund if the change of location adversely affects their ability to attend the match. Since the new location is just two hours from the original location, we hope this will not be the case.

The change has caused the organizational team to retrace our steps in planning the match. We are working on identifying a new match hotel in the Atlanta area. We will post notification here when that process is complete.

ICORE July 1st

Our second ICORE match of the year is coming up at Wildcat Valley near Brookston, IN this Sunday, July 1.


Match details for Sunday.

Six challenging COF's including two with movers and two ICORE classifiers. Round count is 103 but I would highly recommend bringing lots more. The match is a nice mix of stationary marksmanship and "RUN and GUN". If you even think you might want to shoot the match and you are not on my email list, contact me at idpashooter1@hotmail.com so I can add you. July weather in Indiana is unpredictable and I will send out an announcement very early on Sunday if we need to cancel for rain.

The match starts at 9am Central. Set up starts at 7am Central. The cost is $10. 100 rounds (bring 150 to 200) and your IDPA legal gun/equipment is necessary.

If this is your first match, please arrive early and find Jeremy or Marv for a safety briefing.

Lol...Pretty much the only place to shoot besides pops guns, I too have been looking for somewhere else to shoot besides there. That place is kinda scary, I think someone told me the other day that one of the sales men shot him self in the leg or foot, not properly checking a firearm and it was loaded. There are a couple of places up nort in New Castle, but thats a drive from indy.

The Atlanta CC is about 20 minutes north of Indy
There's a range in Martinsville 30 minutes south of Indy..
