15 minutes ago, sitting here at my desk, 2 vollies of 4-6 shots not more than 50 yards away on the street followed by a car speeding off. I got below window level and swiped my cell phone and glock 26 off the night stand on to the floor with me and dialed 911. First time i've dealt with gunshots that close. Last year i heared a few but they were a couple hundred yards away so i didn't even finch, these ones were close. Loud enough to wake up my roommate who sleeps through damn near anything.

Happy with my reaction. Second i heared the shots i reacted, my pulse shot up and i hit the floor with the glock and cell phone. Glock never cleared the holster as i didn't percieve an immediate threat. Police were called immediately.

gonna wait 20 minutes then check my car for holes. Being an old crown vic parked on the corner, it definately could have been the target of urban target practice.

Nah, this is where i go to college. Look at the bright side, since i'm stuck here, this only spurs me to take more training with you guys. ;f

BTW, the car was fine. they were shooting at the other corner. TO give you an idea of how close that is, i am the apartment on the corner.

Believe it or not i live in the nicer part of the city.

Please keep in mind that our training won't make you bullet proof ;a

We'll be back there next year and we'd like you to still be in one piece.

certainly doesn't make me bullet proof, but if i can't avoid it, i might as well have the best tactics and training available.

As long as you can say, "What the ******* was that?", after you hear shooting, you are probably safe. ;f ;P ;f

Marc,

I would think about moving! :)

If I lived in a neighborhood like that I would keep loaded AK by the
bed. :)

How do you like your new g26 by the way?

It's amazing how far away a few miles on MacDade Blvd really is. YOu live in a warzone but I'm only 3 minutes away and its boringly quiet here 99% of the time.

I think the fact that it was my first choice to bring to the "warzone" speaks volumes.

Baghdad's got a lot of catching up to do. Put the local gangs against Muqtada al-Sadr and i'll bet on the locals around here anyday...hmm, i just got a plan for cleaning up the streets and fixing iraq.

Let me guess, republic of ridley? There's no crime there because your cops are the biggest, scarriest mofo's alive. I wouldn't want to be caught commiting crime there either.

there was a chase spawning from a shooting on 9th street a couple weeks ago that the republican guard got caught up in. Listening to it on my scanner. the lead unit tried to stop stick the fleeing vehicle and ended up tossing the stick under ridleys car. you hear over the radio "(unit identifier), them *******s threw the stop stick under my car....call a tow" later when the chase ended you hear from one unit "i have one suspect in custody, i think [ridley] has one...better call an ambulance in that case"

50 yards away is "What the &(&!@ was that?" or "Get on the floor!" distance.

Now "CLOSE!" is a foot over your car hood, or hitting the wall next to you. :)

I live on the corner and it was in the intersection. That's how close. Close enough for me.

That's a lot closer than fifty yards like you initially said.
