I found this on custom-glock.com . its from the shot show. Anyone know if this thing is even fireable without breaking a wrist? Ive never fired any .50 BMG but I can only imagine how bad this thing would beat your hand up even after 1 shot.

AKA "the wrist snapper" ;f

IIRC, a company called "Maadi-Griffin" also made a single-shot .50, based on the same action as their rifle; if you'd like to go UP in bore size, you can even get a single-action revolver in .600 NITRO EXPRESS ;P http://www.pfeifer-waffen.at/Zeliska2.pdf I saw one of these at the IWA show in Nuremburg a couple of years ago, and they look even bigger in person.

One of the weird things about the 50BMG is that it kicks worse the longer the barrel, to a point I imagine.

It seems likely that this thing would pop the round out of the barrel at a relatively low velocity and ignite a buttload of powder in the atmosphere.

Not that I would do it. No sir, not me. ;g

I recall seeing years and years ago a photo of the very first ever .50BMG handgun (no, this is not a new idea) being fired AT AN INDOOR RANGE. It was humorously christened 'Der Loudenboomerkrackenflasher'. Imagine a ball of flame 3 feet in diameter and licking out to 5 or 6 feet forward.

Yeah, the stopping power is cool,...but the position disclosure is a -itch.

Someone please tell me there is a video of this thing being fired...

If it ever goes into production you can kiss .50 BMG surplus good-bye.

Wouldn't the .50 BMG in a handgun sort of defeat the purpose of having a large slug and a large dose of slow-burning powder?

I mean, in a ten or 12" barrel you'd only burn at most 25% of the charge, and get 25% of the ballistics and a huge mushroom cloud-like fireball.

I'm guessing its effect would be along the lines of a .50 blackpowder pistol loaded up with a 700 grain slug and a couple of Pyrodex Pellets... Lots of recoil, muzzle flip, and a six-foot drop at fifty yards from a 10M zero!:)

Quite a novelty, but probably not the most efficient beast-slayer around...

What was that thing JD Jones built on that Remington bolt pistol action...I think it was .500" or maybe even .600", and based on a .460 Weatherby case cut-down. He said he fired one shot--then he placed it in his personal museum! Too much pistol for anything he could think of. Roughly three times the energy of the .375 JDJ, he figured...ouch.

He he he he he,...yeah,...ain't it cooooool?;W

Basically, I'd just possess it as a sort of manly test or rite of passage. Sort of like Grasshopper snatching the pebble from his master's hand.

Greetings,
Here's a link to info about a 50 cal pistol, and the videos showing it being fired:

Well, the ammo (Nuke .50) is fake but the pistol is really a short barreled rifle. It was made from a Maadi Griffin kit.

Here's another one from the 2004 S.H.O.T. show.

Whoa! That Thunder piece from the SHOT show looks like hand-held field artillery!

Check out the guide rail underneath and the collar on the barrel...that looks like the barreled action reciprocates an inch or three to me. You'd think that would add to the snap.

I wonder if that Hand-Howitzer auto-ejects as well?!;Q

Anyone know what it sells for?

the nuke 50 was not a rifle, birdman was very careful to get it papered as a pistol, thus not compromising surplus 50 stuff

Actually it was the other way around, Birdman registered his creation with the ATF as a SBR (short-barreled rifle).

It is specifically NOT a pistol, so that .50BMG ammo would not be reclassified as armor-piercing ammo, like what happened with the steel-core 7.62x39 ammo.

I thought birdman was a "funny site", I havent been there in a couple of years, but weren't they the ones that had "homeboy nite sites" or something like that. So, Birdman really does have a REAL gun in .50 cal? Thanks, Tim

Yes, Birdman is a gun owner. I think he had two or three .50's at one time.

Oh FFS you #$!$#!$#. You're going to get it classed as a pistol ammo. Learn before you mfg your useless custom toys.

Edit: Sorry for being so grumpy, I now have to go buy hundreds of rounds of ammo before some retard and his hyuck-hyuck gun get .50 BMG classed as AP pistol.
