I've learned a little bit about using HTML codes in bulletin board messages such as the "URL /URL", "B /B", etc. But how do I substitute a text "name" for a URL link in a message here. I've seen it done, but don't know how to code it. At present, when I want to link a clickable url in my message I do it this way:

but the "name" is the hyperlink itself. I'd like to be able to substitute the hperlink with a text name such as, say, "Nagant" in the above case.

Any help would be appreciated...

On this board (and many others) use the URL tags. Note, REPLACE the "{"'s with "["'s.....

It will show up like:

Hope that helps.

Yes, it works, thank you.

The trick I learned is the use of the equal sign " = ", and the interrupted square brackets.

Thanks again...

Great, glad it works.

BTW - If you want to see how someone did something weird or intersting in a post, just hit the "quote" button on that post and read the code. It should show you every TAG that was used to accomplish the post.

OK, thanks much for the explanation.

I've since found that the above technique works on some bulletin boards, but not on others. Anyone got any clues why?

Due to different formats being used, possibly XML. Next, ya gets to learn XML tags!

Isn't this FUN!!
