Currently living in Northern Virginia, but I was a FF/EMT back in Eastern Kentucky. I started out with as a volunteer at a combination paid/volunteer department, then later moved to a full volunteer department in a rural/suburban area of that county.

I've been out of it for a few years now, but I'm planning on joining a department in my area. Trouble is, there are so many different departments to volunteer with in this county that it's pretty hard to decide which one to go with. I should narrow my decision in a few weeks.

Full time volly now no more big red truck though, while working I injured my back lifting a pt (healed then had the lack of sense to give it up and upon returning to work reinjured my back). I ride the ambulance still but must ride with a third person for lifting. I am the Amb. Lt. and fire recorder for the Frederica Vol. Fire Co. here in Delaware.
