Anybody have a good link to a tutorial for wiping and starting from scratch with a hard drive.
Last month my wife's HD went south. I got a replacement in and transfered old to new lock stock and barrel using the Western Digital hardware.
The computer works but seems a lot slower than it used to be. I figure in the transfer another layer of complexity must have gotten into it that's slowing it down. My plan is to back up the existing data, reformt the new drive, reload the OS and all the programs. But I've never done this before so I'm looking for a little help.
