hi, i have a usp compact .357 sig. i have roughly 400 documented rds. through it. i was shooting at the range today and came across this. load the gun and chamber a round. gun is in single action/hammer back. sometimes first round/and other times not. i would press the trigger and it would fall past de-cock but not fire? almost like a primer failure. but it happened about 5 times out of 70rds. or so. ive tried to duplicate it dry firing and cant make it happen. took the slide off and "worked" the action and still couldnt see anything visible. the ammo was s&b. ive shot it plenty of times in .357 and .45 without problems before.
anyway, im going to go back and test tommorow with some differant ammo. if it still persists i guess ill send it to hk....
has anyone had any dealings with the hk service dept. ect.

Could B a bad/fouled striker pin. Do U know how to expose the striker ? Some have broken their strikers by doing too much dry firing w/o the use of snap caps.

im "capable" of exposing the firing pin but i might just send it back.. ive only dry fired it probably a combined 50 times or so.... fairly new gun.and i fig. a broken firing pin would mean more upsets/more often than what i had....?
the one thing i did notice is the "pin" that the decocker plate pivots against and that holds the "upper action assembly" seems to be drifting towards the decock lever side.....

alright, im 99.9% sure its the ammo. i had 25rd. left over. went to the range bought an additional box. shot 80rd. of new stuff no problem. the first one i tried to shoot from the problem ammo didnt fire. in fact with the hk "second strike" capability or double action i pulled the trigger 6 times hitting the primer with no ignition. a couple of other rounds it shot after the 3rd. pull.....

it might well be the ammo. the .357sig club guys have mentioned that s&b often has a hard primer or two per box.

it makes sense... i shot a bunch of winchesr usa and not one prob.and the 'ONLY' other thing it could have been was the hammer going to half cock or something, but i pulled the round out (carefully) and it had a couple primer strkes so i know it was the ammo...
You do know that dry firing USPs frequently causes broken firing pins?
Use a snap-cap. ;)

i havent even played with this gun really. (kinda a new purchase. so basically no dry firing....) and it was the ammo.....
I had a similar problem with my USP when it was new. After about 500 rounds, it stopped firing reliably. I sent it to HK. HK cleaned the firing pin channel, and it has worked fine ever since.
Try this. Do a standard field strip. Depress the firing pin block and push the firing pin forward at the same time. Does it feel like the firing pin is going fully forward? If not, spray some cleaner (I use BreakFree Powder Blaster) into the firing pin hole. If there is some gunk in there, it should dissolve and drip out. Then try the firing pin again. Repeat until the firing pin is moving forward fully.

I think it's the ammo, S&B has been having QC problems, over charges, hard primers, bad primers ect

i also use "gun scrube"/quick scrube. by shooters choice. just for that reason. that stuff works awesome. i hate when manufacturers use rollpins and stuff. unlike on the glock. i detail strip my slide every time i clean it......

I also had a bad experience with S&B in 357 mag. Hard primers. 2 or 3 strikes to fire. I use it to train people who flinch: you just never know when it might fire ;f
