Our home computers were getting VERY long in the tooth, we were running into tons of problems; my PC died completely (a P3) my wife's computer (an original Pentium) was having troubles. We really did not want to buy a computer, as we really did not have any money to speak of, and I had some minimal requirements in my mind as to what I wanted from a PC. We found this baby, and we broke out the 0% credit card. We got an Epson Stylus C84 5760 x 1440 22ppm Inkjet Printer "free" after rebates also! :)

I am quite happy with my new purchase!!

Refurb Gateway 310 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=1011720&sku=N122-1102) $549.99

Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz HyperThreading Technology / 512MB DDR / 120GB HDD / DVD+/-RW / DVD-ROM / Windows XP Home

Excellent! As long as you're not a hard core gammer you really don't need the latest and greatest to be efficient.

Exactly. If you are not doing astrophysics equations, heavy graphics, or gaming, the latest expensive systems are simply not necessary (they are nice, though!). My pentium II 400mhz works just fine for running my business programs, surfing the net (slowly, sometimes), and playing solitaire.

Upstairs, we've got the pentium IV 2g w/ graphics card for all the games my son and I play! (and it sounds like you computer is even better!).

About the "free" printer. Our last printer came with a "free" Epson Sylus C42 printer. I like Epson printers, and have had very good experiences with them over the years. The C42 did okay with basic printing, but anything beyond that it stunk. We ended up buying an Epson Stylus CX3200 all-in-one, and it is multiple times better.

Very nice. It also looks like it has a video and sound card vs. integrated.
