View Full Version : Why get a USP compact?

From what I've handled them the USP compact is just a USP with more recoil and dumb metal magazines. Yeah, they're smaller but they're still a medium sized pistol, I wouldn't consider them appropriate to carry unless you wear a coat all the time.
They are good guns, but it seems like a USP is better from all pistolry aspects and for concealed carry there are guns that you could actually, uh, hide?
Because I can, because it's a great gun, because I like Hks, because I like .45s, and because I want a gun I can carry daily.
[END RUN-ON SCENTENCE]
That about sums it up. If you don't like USP Compacts, don't buy a USP compact.
Oh, and vote Bush. ;z
because they're easier to conceal for CCW.

Metal magazines are dumb? Or the USP Compact mags are dumb, and made of metal? I'm confused ;g
A range gun and a CCW gun have different requirements. It's unlikely that you'll find one to do both well.
Picking a CCW pistol is very personal and difficult. There are many variables to consider. Only you can make that decision.
My HK USP-C is for:
1. Home Protection
2. Range Gun
3. Winter Carry.
It is a great pistol and a dream to shoot. :)
As Ecmills said: If you don't like it, don't buy it! ;f
Having never shot an HK USP until last week, I often thought the same thing. Now I can say that my next purchase will be an HK. I was utterly amazed at this weapon. I am a convert now. Specifically, I'll be buying the P2000, subcompact. I will hang on to my Glocks, but I can't wait to add the HK.

the hk uspc .357 was my first hk . after that i will prob. never buy another glock again.
and after having the "second strike capability" (same as with sig and "sorta" with 1911's.) i really dont like the fact you have to rack the slide if their is a problem in glocks, kahr ect....... somethng to think about

I have a full sized USP and it's better in all ways than a USP compact. It is slightly larger, but you still can't hide the USP-C without a coat and, well, you can hide a USP with a coat, too.
Metal magazines suck. They break too easily.

hmm,
never had a "dumb" metal magazine break on me. With all the sigs and Hk's that I have and all those metal mags, none have ever broken, cracked, etc.
Although I have had a glock mag or two crack, of course these were early nfml mags.

A coat? I can conceal mine with a t-shirt in either of the holsters I choose to use. Plastic mags break too. Your points are moot. Instead of making bs excuses, just come out and say it. You just don't like the compacts.

I bought the Compact because I wanted a USP .45Auto but I don't have orangutan hands to grab a hold of that wide-assed USPF grip.

size conealiblity depends on a "persons" actual size. im 6'-3" and the uspc conceals perfect. in fact so does a sig 226lol....

FWIW I don't think much of the plastic magazines that came with my USP9F. I don't think they're even metal lined. They swell like crazy. Still drop free though.
Metal reinforcement in the feed lips for hardness. I much prefer plastic. It stands up to general beating better. Metal is harder, but more brittle and doesn't take shock well.

"Dumb metal mags"
You're right all these years with metal mags on my 1911A1's, Sigs and HK's and never once have they give me a correct answer to any questions I ask them. :(

don't like it? don't buy it.

Agreed.
My opinion is the opposite in favor of the Compact vs. Full-Size. I think the full-size are too big for anything but open carry and range use, and dislike the plastic mags.
The Compacts are about the same size as the G19/23.
For the, the USP40c is the ideal platform for the .40 and it's my favortie gun to shoot.
"Why get a USP Combact?": Because I like it.
Opinions will vary.
Cuz the compacts fit MY hand better, vs. a USP regular fits my Dads' hand better,OK!?!?!?!?!?!;e ;f ;a ;a :)

.
One reason NOT to get a new one -- depreciation is amazing on these guns.
Why would anyone want to sell a USP-C? :) ;f ;)
Yeap, that why I bought my first 2 used but they probavly did not evan have 50rds in one and 200 or less in other. But on the hkc45ss that I put on layway they are hard to come by here and the dealer had 1 and he has not had them in a good while so I had to pay to get what I want. It was 765.00. Theusp45ss I got o paid 740.00 for it but got 5 10rd mags like new and new nightsights. I plan on getting a usp45f in ss later.

I don't know why unless just tight on money but I'm seeing a lot of HKC 45 FS lately on the boards. To much recoil for most taste?

Our entire sworn force (115) with the exception of SWAT has the USP 45 Compact. Some on SWAT have it also. Many folks just liked it better for the feel. I am a big guy, but I find the full size to be too bulky. As far as recoil, it does not seem to be an issue.
