Looks like very few of you are going to Lipa. Is it confirmed that its only a classifier match?

OT: Been scarce lately as I've been sidetracked by a digicam that I bought last week. I've been visiting all the related forums about it. Its a Canon Powershot S1 IS( 3.2 MP,10x optical zoom + 3.2 digital zoom[total 32x] with Image stabilizer and good video capability), wanted a digital SLR(I like the Canon 20D but the price was much too high for my current budget:) Its my first digicam and its really interesting to play with it and manipulate all the manual settings. Once I get the hang of it, I'll probably get that 20D:)

from what i was told (per our club meeting last night), the lipa shoot is actually a classified match. meaning, you'll compete with shooters within your class (to where you are grouped). multiple winners from different classes, all ranked #1 (iba-ibang class nga lang ;f ). classified vs. classifier match (?) there might be some miscommunication there.

OT: try browsing www.dpreview.com - nice site for digital camera hardware.

Thanks for the clarification, so its okay then, I was just confused why they called it the Kap. Marlon Luansing Cup if it was just a classifier match. Daming trophies non, di kaya sila maluge ;f. I'll see you guys there :)

I was aiming for the Olympus C-765, but ended up with the C-310 instead. I remembered I had a videocam pala, so no need for a long zoom camera for me. :cool:

Very interesting hobby. I even bought a lens adapter and telephoto lens for it that ups the focal length to 600+mm with resulting 20x or so optical zoom(60x or so digital). Nice for checking out the wildlife ;f The more I go into this, the more I want to upgrade to that EOS 20D dSLR. The Open gun will probably have to wait.

The EOS 1D and 1Ds Mark II are ideal but the 300,000 to 500,000 peso price tags are just too much ;P

kidding aside, as we were watching ivan shoot this stage, m_co and i notice those bullet holes which were very near the shooting columns, about 45 deg from the column table top. can you imagine some people can actually shoot that bad? AD is also also probable cause

after the Mitsubishi Motors factory, at the junction going to antipolo and angono, take the right fork. immediately to your left you will see a road going up towards the Rizal PNP HQ and Rizal Provincial Jail. The range is inside the PNP compound.

hehe, thats exactly what i did dude, the picture series is missing one frame. my fault because when oliver wanted to do speed shooting on this stage, i gave him the wrong direction to activate it. so he had to deal with shutter lag;)

From the partial results when I left yesterday I averaged 12th place. Ewan natin, maramin pang magaling na di pa tapos yesterday. Only had one mike and 1 PE the whole match. Best scoring ko so far pero alalay lang yung time. Kulang sa movement practice e. ;)

Lakas ko parin talaga siguro mag-dryfire. Running on my spare springs again. Kailangan ulit bumili ng bago. ;f

Yahoo, finally shot my first level 2 match :)

It was quite frustrating actually. I was there on day 1, Nov. 26, at 8 a.m., and I learned from the organizers that they would give first priority to PNP personnel who were participating on that day. Lo and behold, there were I believe more than 200 police officers who took part in the match, so I had to sit around on my butt until 3 p.m. and I only finished 3 stages.

Went to the gun show the next day, Nov. 27, and finally got to finish the last 4 stages this morning. Talk about toxic.

Now all I have to do is learn how to do Doc Eye Cutter's sig line: "shoot slow... fast." :)

Is anyone going to the 2nd Toot's Sandoval Cup in Rosales, Pangasinan?

Doc EC, can anyone shoot on any of the shooting days from Dec. 9 to 12, or is the first day reserved for ROs and other persons? I don't want to repeat my earlier experience during the Gov. Agbayani Cup where I went on the first day and spent it just watching hundreds of cops shoot (not that that wasn't entertaining, but...)

Sir mikey, Dec 9 is reserved for RO's according to the Program/CoF I just saw the other day. Think it's best to go there Dec 10-12. It's nice to watch RO's having a go at it though cause some of them are pretty good and you can learn a lot from watching how they tackle certain stages. ;)

Sorry, I don't know of any hotels in that area. Maybe Doc EC has a better idea. The "inns" that I pass along McArthur Highway in Rosales, Pangasinan are of doubtful habitability, and they have such friendly names like " Cockers Inn" and "D' Loser Hotel" ;Q

Urdaneta City on the other hand has Ciudad Fernandino and another hotel, but then again, it'll put you a good 20 to 30 minute drive from the range.

9MX: sa Urdaneta rin kami mag stay. di ko lang alam saan yung hotel. I think it's a resort with villas.

Toot's Range is in Brgy. San Antonio, Rosales, Pangasinan.

If you're taking Mc_Arthur highway, turn right at the McDonald's before the long bridge in Carmen. Straight lang hanggang lampasan yung town plaza. Go straight following the road going to Umingan. Then after 2-3 km, you'll see a Shell station on the right. Turn right and go straight another 2-3km. until you see a house with a windmill on the left. That's Toot's house. A few meters pa you'll see the range on your left.

Another route is to take the Gerona-Cuyapo-Guimba highway. When you get to Gerona, you'll see a Total station on the left side. Turn right and go straight probably 15-20km until you get to the junction into the town proper (maraming directional signs). Turn left and go straight around 30km. Mahabang kalye! Then you'll pass the Pangasinan welcome arch. Go another 10-15km and you'll see the range on your right. Ang dulo naman nang road na ito e yung T-intersection with the shell gas station. Pag umabot kayo duon, lumampas na kayo! Turn back and follow the directions above! hahaha!!!

This Sunday, putok ka? ituturo ko sa iyo complete with sound effects pa!!! hahaha!!!

I just heard from a friend that there was a CQB tournament held at the New Bilibid Firing Range yesterday. (medyo konti lang daw pumutok)175 rounds minimum, and there was no 180 deg rule.

How can that be? Anyone tried that before? ^8

Due to the nature of a CQB course and the placement of targets, the 180 rule is waived unless the R.O. states that it's in effect. Shoots at police and military camps with CQB courses usually waive the 180 rule.:)


Tagal ko nang hindi pumuputok(last was the BRPG shoot :(. Our gun club has a serious internal problem. I'll just shoot using Northstar fo the meantime. Planning on going to the Camp Aguinaldo shoot on Sunday and the Tierra Del Fuego Classifier the week after.:)

It will be held on Sunday, 12 Dec 2004, 8 to 11:30am only. Reg fee for guests is P700. Hope some of you can make it.

Arghhh!!! have not used shotgun for 6 weeks now.. barrel got changed and had Derek lighthen up my bolt for lighter loads ..i hope they will have 3 gun there in the near future its just so fun than an ordinary pistol match sometimes..:)

for level 1 there might be a free t shirt so the range fee will be 750, mandatory tshirt;P

Perfect day for shooting. I wish my scores were perfect as well. I had 8 mikes;P But we really had fun, its nice to shoot on a weekday, not to many shooters.

armscor reloading is really unreliable, shihan's load only reached 166 pf so he's bumped off to minor. mine was at 137pf, on pro chrono eqpt. judge reloads kasi;z

i shoot production. from what i've heard, the rules are enforced in all divisions when it comes to level 2 and up matches
