I have four domain names with go-daddy that are due for renewal in December. I just followed the link they emailed me to renew and they are listing a two year renewal at $17.50 each for the names. So $17.50 X 4 is $70 which I was prepared to pay.

Then when I get to the final checkout. Each of the four domain names are listed in the cart at $17.50 each. Then there is a fifth line item that says, "Private registrations services renewal" for $9 annual, quantity 4, total price $72. Last time I checked 9X4 was not 72.

The total cost to renew all four domain names for two years is $142!

What's going on here?

I'd try sending them something, rather than complaining to us, since we can't really help....

$17.50 each?

$17.50 should be for two years since it's about $8.00 or so a year to re-register your domain names.

So they are charging you 9.00 per year for each domain to keep your infor private..

godaddy.com has the most annoying upsell program but they do have people who answer the phone and they have excellent customer service.

9 x 4 x 2 = 72.

it's $9 annually per name.

I just use a P.O. Box.

Yeah, it's for two years. What's the scoop on the whole keep your information private? Is it worth the money for the average small business guy? Is your info really private, or can they get to it if they try hard enough?

Seems like if people wanted to find me, it wouldn't take much as it is now. My name, business address, contact numbers etc. are all over the site, not to mention other forms of advertising media I use.
