The Perfect LED
Compared with traditional incandescent bulbs, LEDs are much more energy efficient, i.e. they turn more energy into light than heat. This translate into an extension of limited battery life. LEDs also save costs. Their high tolerance of shocks, extreme temperatures and frequent switching means the re-lamping (replacement of bulb) are greatly reduced or eliminated. With a working life of 8-11 years on a single LED, it is considered that LEDs do not need to be replaced at all.

With the introduction of Luxeon (USA) LED, a single 1 watt can produce up to 30 lumens and a Luxeon III can produce between 60 to 75 lumens This is 15 to 20 times brighter than the standard LEDs (a typical LEDs such as the standard 5mm LED have a limited brightness of 1.3 lumens per watt).

Those look like very interesting flashlights, Mondy. Perhaps you'd be willing to bring a sample or two to the BoG Anniversary this Monday so we can examine them firsthand, and also so we could get to know you better.

Details for the anniversary are in this thread (http://www.glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=306229)

I'm glad you were able to pass by during the anniversary, Mondy.

Check out this link: http://elektrolumens.com/XM-3/XM-3.html

If you could make a tactical LED light like that, which is reasonably prices (read: cheaper than a Surefire), I'm sure you'd get a lot of customers. Good luck on refining your prototype.

Hi Mikey,

I have this model as well for my own (bought XM-2 and XM-3), Do check my Beamshot comparison w/ the 3watter, you'll notice that the XM-2 beam are pee yellow in color beam. That's the same color as the XM-3 but a bit lower in brightness (35-40lumens) due to 1.5V x 2pcs 'AA' battery.

As for the price: we'll adjust (for BoGs only) it as soon as we receive the stocks. ;)

;-)

regards
Mondy
