View Full Version : DLC Coating
I'm new to Kahrs, and may be picking up a PM9 this weekend. How can I tell between the DLC and the older Kahrs? Sorry if this has been covered before. Thanks!

I believe I'm correct when I say on Kahr slides, the DLC Tungsten coating will be black. Most Kahr handguns have the matte stainless, or dull silver color slide. The "Elite" models have a polished, or brite silver finish on the slide. However, Kahr does not offer a PM9 in the Elite series.
One cannot tell from the finish on the slide if the Kahr you are looking at is " older or newer", only the serial number can tell you the manufacture date.

If UR only looking at polymer Kahrs, the black slides R DLC. It's the metal ones that require some research. Kahr makes a series called the Economy model. They have black (non-DLC) slides as well & only come with 1 mag. Then to add to the confusion they decided to call the Economy MK9 a Limited series. It should sell for the low $400s. But some dealers will list it as a Limited edition & charge alot more.

All are excellent points LGC, I'm glad you added that info especially about the "Limited Edition", economy model.
I was just trying to explain to him about DLC slides.
Economy "E-Series" are no longer in production but as you pointed out there are lots of them out there.
This is a picture of my PM4044 with DLC Stainless slide. I really liked the look of the PM4043, but for some reason the DLC version 'looked' smaller. :)
