Through my father's estate I received what I believe is a S&W Model 2.
Marked Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass.
4 1/2 inches octagonal barrel
Pearl handled.
Seemingly in great condition.

No serial number on butt. Other than, I know it sounds crazy, but the lone 1 (very small) on the barrel end of the butt.

Can someone help me identify ?

How about a knowledgeable person in my area (Massachusetts) ?

Thanks for any help...

It looks like a Model No. 1 1/2 or a Model No. 2 to me. Give us more info. Caliber? How may rounds will it hold (looks like a 6 shooter in the pic)? Copy all the markings you can find on the gun and post them.

I have never seen that type of front sight on an early Smith, I'm wondering if what you have isn't a 5" or 6" Model No. 2 that someone cut down and put a new front sight on. If it is an original 4" barreled model, it is worth probably $3000 to the right person. If it's an original 5", probably $1150-$1600. If it was cut down, maybe $500. I've also never seen one with a factory pearl grip, but that doesn't mean that some were not made that way, I'm not a Smith expert.
