I posted about my new acquistion a few weeks back and finally got out to shoot it last week. I was absolutely floored at how accurate this thing was! I shot a WWB value pack in addition to a limited amount of Win. 147 SXT. The SXT was rediculously good. My one and only 5 shot group at 10 yards measured 11/16". I about died. 15 yards wasn't nearly as good but at just over 2", I was still happy as could be. The WWB was hit and miss to some degree. Seemed like alot of times I had one flyer to screw things up but my best groups were around 1.5 to 3" from 10/15/20/25 yards. I had many others that were quite poor, if not an embarrassment to post, but it took me awhile to feel comfortable with the stock sights as I'm used to Heinie straight 8's. I am just entirely impressed with this pistol in virtually every regard. Thanks to Michigun, I even tackled a slide detail strip via the posted instructions and it turned out to be easier than I thought. The P9 has officially just become my new carry choice by way of a C-Tac IWB. Can't even tell I'm wearing the thing!! I still do and always will love my Glocks but this Kahr is the best addition I've made in some time and I just wanted to share my newfound joy with you all.

Glad to hear it worked out so well. I also carry a P-9 in a CTAC IWB and am very comfortable. I don't quite have the groupings that you do at that distance, I'm sure that is the shooter and not the gun. My Glock will get me those groupings however. ;f

Welcome to the wonderful feeling of a Kahr by your side. When the Glocks are just a bit to thick for the situation I think we are carrying the next best thing.

I've been packing my P9 lately. I took it out for a
couple hundred rounds of Winchester Value Pack today. I'm always
amazed at the accuracy of this little kahr!

The groupings in our P9 have "opened" up SLIGHTLY with age/use, whereas our G17 has not. Just my observation. Our P9 is plenty accurate, but just does not get those groups either, whereas our G17 does so easily.

Glock4Life: Is that 25 feet or 25 yards (75 feet)? Local ranges here are listed in feet and I often overhear fellow shooters referencing them in yards. That's a good shooting P9 either way.

It's yards. As in 75 feet. Again though, as I said earlier, I had many groups that were nowhere close to those I posted. Those were the best of all 5 shot groups. I wasn't near my bench when I posted originally so here's the actual results as I'm looking at the targets:

The 10 yard group with the SXT was misposted. It was actually 1 1/16" instead of 11/16". I had 2 that I was pretty proud of at 15 yds. that were 2 3/16" and 3 1/16". The biggest surprise was my best 20 yd. group which came in at 2 13/16". That's one of the best 20 yard groups I've ever shot without a rest. For some reason, this weapon is MORE accurate than my Glocks at least at this point. My biggest fear is that I was just having a real lucky day. One of those days when everything was just clicking. I guess I'll find out soon enough although it's starting to get pretty cold here and the indoor range just closed down to the public. Anyway, take care all.

I'm tickled you really enjoy it. Good comments from the rest as well. I'm one of those that believe Kahrs & Glocks are apples & oranges - both have their place. (I'm getting ready to pickup a CompTac holster also BTW.) That's certainly good accuracy you're getting; definitely minute-of-badguy. ;)

As to ammo choices, whether Kahr or Glock I seem to always end up with pistols that like really mild stuff (like disposable Blazer thru my GSSF pistols) and the fairly hot defensive stuff; either one, but moderate pressure ammo looks like a turkey target. (My P9 Covert ate a batch of +P+ no problem once, blowing a single ragged hole in a paper plate at 15yds.) Happy shooting & sounds like comfortable carrying as well. ^c

My pleasure! ^c It really is pretty easy... it's almost as easy as a GLOCK's upper, almost.

I didn't see mention of it in your report Glock4Life - how was your P9's reliability? Have you hit the 200 round mark yet?

Negative. I'm at a 120 round count so far with 100 WWB and 20 Winchester SXT JHP. 100% reliable so far. I'll put another couple hundred through her this month yet and I'll keep you posted. Also, I agree with you about the detail strip being easy. It was noticeably harder to learn than a Glock and a little harder to do. But with minimal practice a pinch more memory, it's not much harder, especially with HQ instructions. ;) Talk at ya later.

I bought a new P9 and few weeks ago and was very anxious to take it to the range. I wanted to get through that initial 200-round break-in in the first session, so I bought four boxes of the Blazer FMJs -- good, cheap target ammo.

At the range, I positioned the target first at 7 yards. At that range, while adusting to the new pistol and its trigger, I was able to keep most of my shots within the 5.5-inch black circle at the center of the target. I already have a PM9, so I expected this type of accuracy.

Next I pulled out a new target and set it at 10 yards. The first three rounds were low and to the left -- which I attributed to my flinching in anticipation of the boom. So I really concentrated on holding steady on the target, breathing slowly and squeezing the trigger.

But with every round I fired, it didn't appear that I was hitting the target at all. "Wow," I thought. "This thing is way off. I'm going to have to send it in to Kahr." But I kept shooting, with no visible results. After 15 rounds, I reeled the target in -- and was thrilled to find that my last 12 rounds all hit the black circle in the center of the target. I just couldn't see the holes from 10 yards because the backstop behind the target was black too.

I said "Wow!" again, but for a much different reason. ;f
Needless to say, I'm very happy with my P9. With the P9 and PM9, I'm fully immersed in the Kahr cult.

I resurrected an old post because my range time has been limited to rediculously minimal proportions this year and I've been meaning to update this one for an eterntiy. Anyway, since the P9 purchase I've finally managed to get close to the 1000 round count and I remembered Michigun asking about reliability in this post so here goes:

Approx. 1000 rounds downrange, mostly WWB and zero failures of any kind. The only thing I notice from time to time is that the feed angle seems a tad low. I've had some instances where I've felt like I was going to have a nosedive hangup into the ramp but it's made it through every time. The ramps on these things look like mirrors so I'm sure that probably helps the situation. Occasionally there's a little hesitation but it's always gone through and it's completely unnoticeable during live fire, only when slingshotting in the first round from the mag. Bottom line, this little gem rules. I carry it regularly in the C-Tac and have become a full fledged fan. Groups are still excellent and yesterday I did a head to head test against my G23 and found them to be almost identical with the exception of 20 yards. I can still run them in better with the Glock at that range. Anyway, just wanted to update and let everybody know that Kahr is alive and well in Iowa.

Finally got the digital camera back so here's a pic(tad large) showing the Kahr vs. Glock in a side by side comparison at 10,15,20 yds. On this particular day, I shot better in all instances with the Kahr. I'm generally not one to post target pics and in fact this is my first time doing so but I just wanted fellow Kahr enthusiasts to see it. I will admit, I was not having the best day with my Glock for some reason but still, pretty impressive for the P9 I thought. All targets show 7 rounds. I decided to shoot the same out of the Glock as the Kahr to keep things constant. In addition, I didn't select the 6 best targets of all I shot that day. I threw out 3 total targets because I sucked it up, but other than that, these are 6 out of 9 targets in a row, during about the middle of my range trip, for the purposes of my comparison:
