Does anyone have any first hand experience with this 1911?

Or the brand as a whole?
I have been drooling over this gun for weeks. Is it Cali legal?

It is not on the California Roster
http://justice.hdcdojnet.state.ca.us/safeguns/safeguns_new.taf
but Kahr (who owns Auto-Ordnance) does have some guns approved there so maybe they will get this one on the list.
TP, if a handgun is not on the approved roster, by make, model, and caliber, it can't be sold in California. Change one thing, give it a new model designation, and you have to start over with the tests and fees. Lots of fees to the politicians of Cal.

The whole calir approved list is total bull****. For example an XD-40 sub compact in olive drab is CA legal, however the SAME gun in 2 tone or all black is NOT ca-legal (yet)..... talk about stupid. The DAY I graduate from college, I am leaving this god-awful state.

AO guns are just as good as anything else out there these days even though some like to knock them. I have one complete AO gun and one AO frame for a build I did, and I have no complaints out of either of them.
Now, having said that, skip the above pistol. It has all the bells and whistles, but for the price, it's too good to be true. i.e. they are skimping somewhere -- quality maybe?
If you're gonna spend anywhere near that price, buy a used Series I Kimber. Or, hell, a new Kimber. You'll get all the gadgets and get a better pistol for about the same, or less money.

What are Californians going to do someday when a very liberal anti-gun dweeb gets elected governor, as well as a few liberal anti-gun dweebs making their way into the legislature at Sacramento... and they just start deleting items from the "approved" list (you know, for the children)?
What are you going to do then? It will be a little late to complain about it then, won't it?
Crazy crazy crazy.

The Frames they are using are investment cast, My experience with investment casted pieces is 50/50. From what I have heard from some Gunsmiths is that at least the older AO 1911 frames arent quite "spec'd" and require alot more custom fitting of parts then other manufacturers.
One word of caution I purchased one of the new AO m1 carbine's to add to my ww2 era carbines and everything but the barrel was investment cast. It took alot of polishing on the trigger component's to get the trigger to a manageable weight as well as the action required a considerable amount of "breakin" before it stopped short cycling.
howdy
I have An older one it shoots great fierd thousands of rounds :)
