I recently maxed out for my PT test, and was very happy with the results, I was able to max at 325 on my bench. Now that I am training alone again, I am doing sets and was curious if there is a way to calculate an approximate max based on reps. A typical bench rotation for me is:
10 x 135 warm up
10 x 185
10 x 190
10 x 200
I follow it up with flys and lat pull downs etc. Is there such a formula without actually maxing out? Just curious

yea, there are quite a few calculators. I believe you can find one at exrx.net. But, you'll find mor if YOU google using the terms MAX REP CALCULATOR.

I think for higher reps like sets of ten, they loose accuracy.

Good luck,

Phil,

I was reading Explosive Lifting fo Sports today and it says your max should be between 260 and 270. Hope that helps.

The calculators are very general and don't always work for everybody for every lift. Having said that, the .033 for each rep works for some upper body work for me. By that I mean I was doing seated military presses with 155 for 8 and the formula predicts 195 which is what I did.
8*.033=.264
1.264*155=195.92
But it might be very different for lower body lifts.
