View Full Version : Installing Night Sights On The Model 27

I have decided to get a set of nightsights for one of my Glock model 27s.
The other 27 has a adjustable rear sight on it so I think I will leave that one alone.
But the first one that I bought came with just plain standard sights on it and I have always thought about a pair of nightsights for my Kel-Tec P-11 but the ones that Kel-Tec sell for it are defective, they have one dot closer to the notch in the rear sight than the other and Kel-Tec is aware of this and has many owners that bought their nightsights upset.
My question is will the sights come off the 27 real easy?
And is it hard to put the nightsights on to where they will stay on and not slide around?,
I mean I have not taken off my rear sight but it looks like you can just tap the side of it and it will slide right out, I am not fond of the idea that they do not use any kind of screw to hold them in place and that is what makes me think that once I would tap in the rear sight it might shift to one side or the other during carrying it inside the waistband with the gun rubbing against the side of my body and bending around would even put more pressure on the sights.
Anyone know? or have any suggestions?

Hey Diamond, you may want to check my post about night sights (Ameriglos) on the Subclub. Concerns my G26.
Mike,
If you like the style, I can recommend XS big dot night sights. I put them on my G27 in like 5 minutes. They come with a wrench for the front sight and a pusher dowel for the rear. The rear also is held in place by set screws, which you locktite in place after verifying zero.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help! but I just bought a set of TRUGLO BRITE-SITE for $69 dollars and they installed them for me.
They have two green dots in the rear and one green dot in the front.
The only thing that I do not really like about them is that the front sight is about 1 inch long and sticks up about 1/4 inch.
They have like little bottles of fluid in them, two bottles in the rear and one bottle in the front.
They are really bright in the dark though, it does not say how many years they are good for but I have always heard 10 years.
This is the first set of nightsights that I have ever had.

The sights you have are powered by tritium, which is isotope of hydrogen gas. It can be man-made, but it is also a naturally occurring substance that is produced by cosmic ray action and by the decay of natural radionuclides in rocks and soil. It is a colorless, odorless gas, lighter than air. It is present in air and water all over the earth and is regularly ingested and breathed by everyone. All humans contain trace amounts of tritium and several other naturally occurring radioisotopes. And while it is radioactive, it can not penetrate the skin.
Most night sights will give you a nice long service life of over 10 years. Good decision on getting some night sights for a weapon that you use for personal defense!

Jake-Gallows,
Thanks very much for all the information!, your right! it says on the package that they contain radioactive stuff and if I ever need to get rid of them to ship them back to TruGlo for disposal.
I got a very good deal on them at $69 dollars installed free because they told me that these sights was made special for Glock and they are new to making nightsights for handguns so I got them at intro price.
I found out that TruGlo has been making nightsights for years for Shotguns and archery and is just now starting to get into handguns.
I really like them but do not care too much for the long front sight about 1 inch long but the guy said they made them long so that they will hold more fluid and last longer.
They do not get in the way of any holsters though!, I have a real nice inside the waistband holster for the gun and it fits fine and also bought a real nice molded black leather pancake holster and the gun fits great in that with the nightsights on it.
If anyone is interested in this brand they have a website at www.truglo.com
I am very very tempted to start carrying the 27 and retire my Kel-Tec P-11 and see how well I can adjust to the extra weight, but will always love my Kel-Tecs!.

They do look a little different, but they will grow on you. You won't have any problems with holsters as most well made holsters have a sight track molded into them.
I think that you will like carrying the glock more than the Kel_tec. While the Glock weighs a little more, you will like it lots more after shooting it more and carrying it more!
