View Full Version : Locking your CD tray

My 21 month old daughter loves to press the buttons on my DVD and DVD-RW drives. Luckily she hasn't yet put anything bad in them nor has she broken the tray off, but I'm waiting for that to happen.

Anyone know of a simple utility that will software lock the tray like the writer apps do during burning. I don't mind right-clicking on the drive letter and selecting "Eject", I just want to disable the Eject button on the front of the drive.

Uh move the computer off the floor?

No utility for that mess unless you own a Apple.

Maybe a leash?

Never used it but it is free and says it will lock your CD drawers. Has some other neat features.

CD Eject Tool 2.6 (http://www.handyarchive.com/Utilities/System-Tools/2240-CD-Eject-Tool.html)

Or you could just get a better PC case with a front door which is lockable and covers the drive bays when it is closed...

I paid just over $100 for mine, shipping included. That may seem like a lot of green just for a case w/o a PSU, but read a few reviews and you'll see why I still regard it as one of the best investments I have ever made.

pop the face off the drive and snip the backing behind the actual button, or just remove the face of the button.
