I used a home built yagi, fashioned out of coat hangers and tin-foil.

Now, just a minute, here!
I'll have you know I put a bit of aluminum foil on every - and I mean every - antenna I've ever erected, and I've been a ham since 1964.
Why? Well, in spite of what the books tell you, I learned as a kid in the early 50s with an old Philco table-top TV that putting foil on the rabbit ears improved reception greatly. This was from empirical testing, not just guessing. So, I figured there just may be some kind of magic to all this, and I always put a small piece of tin foil on all my antennas, wire and tubing. And, ya know?...they all worked extremely well, with standing wave ratios of less than 1.2:1.
Go figure...
