It was done in 2002 - Combat Missions on USA network.

Winning team split 150k (6 man team). Then that team was broken up and the top guy (there were no women participants) took home 250k.

All participants were either cops or ex-military.

One of the participants was one of the 4 civilian contractors who were killed in Iraq early this year.

Then, about a year ago, there was a show called Next Action Hero. One episode involved the participants being trained in the use of firearms and doing some actual shooting as well as acting a shooting part. The live fire stage was really scary, with one of the participants dropping her gun (behind the firing line, I think) and scrambling around trying to retrieve it.

The winners (one man and one woman) won leads in a made for tv movie (which was shown the week after the series ended)

Then there was a British show called X-Fire which was similar to Combat Missions but with paintball guns and the participants were not cops or ex-military. I don't know what they won. It did have a web site as did Combat Missions.

THis show is going to be less para-military in tone and form and more "all about guns". Think "Mail Call".

There was another British show that took civilians and put them through SAS (I think) training. It included some weapons and survival. I believe it was on OLN.
