Anyone in the forum ever owned/used/carried a Surefire G2 (their polymer version of the venerable 6P)? I currently have a 6P and two Z2 combatlights but was looking to add something lighter (weight wise) to the belt. Compared to most of the other Suerfire's they are a bargain at $34 direct from Surefire.com. I was just curious what others at the forum thought.
Thanks

They are a great light for cheap. Other than the batteries being a little salty I have nothing but good to say for the G2.

It has a different tail cap and switch than the 6P.
I just couldnt get used to it.
Got a OD green one 2 summers ago. Got the high output (120 lumen) lamp. Love it. Bright, cheap, reliable. Want to get a metal one with the strike bezel.

I bought a few at Gander Mt. some time ago on sale for $24. I wish I would have bought more. Think Christmas gift.

The tailcap does not have the lockout feature; they are always "hot".
Other than this, great lights. I own four of them, and will own more.

Personally, I prefer my lights not to have a lockout feature. The tail cap on my Pelican M6 LED is exactly how I wish all lights were made.

I guess because its 4 to 1 (G2s vs. 6Ps) in my household, I prefer them, too. ;f
It IS handy to be able to lock it "off" if you have to drop it in a coat pocket or backpack. Otherwise you gotta pull the batteries or snap it into a light "holster" to prevent possible dead batteries.
I only mentioned it because someone here had bought one recently and said they didn't know the switches were different. Until I had used one of each, I didn't know, either. Just a FYI...

I just unscrew the tailcap until it won't come on accidentally.Just tighten up a little when you need it.

Don't know if this applies to where you live but in south east Michigan The Gander Mt. sale is on again, but at$29.99 for the G2.
I bought one for everyone at work along with the holsters. Everyone on the team loves them. Look around on the internet you can find sales on batteries.
Ditto to the above...no better bargain to be had.
You may want to contact SureFire directly concerning batteries...they are about 1.25 each in bulk packs of a dozen or so. VERY cheap and a very long shelf life. BTW, one of mine survived an accidental 18 foot drop (from rooftop to concrete driveway) with zero damage to bulb/reflector/body. Try THAT with a MagLite!

Okay - I'm convinced. I bought two from Surefire and picked up two 12 packs of batteries. Looks like my Z2's and 6P are going to have company.

I'll take TWO G2s over one 6P, any time. I actually prefer the poly to the metal versions. I'd like to see a poly "aviator" sized light.
