I'm not a huge fan, but what I know of him I like. It's safe to say that he was a very bright man. He also had a knack for surrounding himself with the absolute best unknown talent available. If you were good enough to play for Frank, it means you were as close to perfect as it gets. lists his styles as:
* Hard Rock
* Prog-Rock/ Art Rock
* Jazz-Rock
* Comedy Rock
* Experimental Rock
* Album Rock
* Novelty
* Computer Music
* Experimental
* Proto-Punk
* Fusion
* Progressive Big Band
that should tell anyone just how versitile this man was. He had a sometimes great, sometimes cliched sence of humor, that is the only thing that keeps me from being a huge fan. He was better at making music than he was at telling jokes, IMO.

;g Frank was my first concert experience. I havent been the same since. Absolutely top shelf stuff! Musicians like that deserve much more appreciation than they ever get.

I love Frank. Listening to him right now. Best album IMHO is Grand Wazoo. There are many close seconds though. I am slowly putting together his entire library on vinyl. Just picked up Freak Out, Were Only In It For the Money, and You Canít Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 2.
