Anyone interested in a job in Iraq?

I have been offered 2 jobs in Iraq in the last couple of weeks, I am passing on both but can give the information to anyone who is interested.

1. Position as assistant site manager in Iraq, manager for group of linguistics personnel. Handle their HR stuff and make sure they are at correct work assignment, liason with military command etc. Total comp approx 130k. Military NCO experience needed This Co also has openings for other jobs as well, IT, finance etc.

2. Position working on communications(radio/voice/networking) in support of Dept of State contract in Iraq. Company issues all gear and both 9mm and M4 to each person (Sounds like my kind of job). Military experience is a huge plus. Total comp = 90k

Both include insurance, meals, lodging etc.

For me personally, neither of these jobs tipped the scales of risk reward enough to justify taking. I make a damn good salary already and I would want to make 175k plus to go. Now two years ago when I got laid off, I would have jumped at this and if I get deployed with the guard I may kick myself for not taking this. I just wanted to make sure I passed it on for anyone that needs it.

How long are the jobs for? I would assume it's for 1 year (that was the length when I got offered similar positions a year or two ago). Even getting calls about these jobs when I was laid off and searching, it was tempting, but not worth it in the long run (just married, that sort of thing).

Keep in mind that the salaries are tax free in addition to all the other perks (which equates to 2-3 years of pay for some people!) Not too shabby overall!

Well, that is one of the downsides! They offer double the standard salary (quadruple with the tax free part), but there is a reason why!

Sound logic, except when you take into account you could get killed anywhere. Cheery thought, isn't it? :(

I am a member of the national guard, I am just as likely to end up over there for 30k. Would not be my first time there either.

Hell, I'm over here right now and making around 40k per year, I wouldn't mind finding out a little more for when I return.
I don't have any communications experience but I've done four as USMC inf, And am on my second tour over here as an USA MP... not sure if thats good enough. I'm a SSG if that matters

Send me an email, job #1 is to act like a plt sgt. Make sure the language guys get to the correct assignment or to the proper unit. Work with military and civilians. The recruiter was like do you think you remember the ranks? You will have to talk to officers. I told him no problem, I think I can remember the difference between a butterbar and a gleaming chicken and how to speak to each one....
All they were really looking for was someone with NCO/SNCO experience.
