I know that Gold Dots are popular and give excellent performance, but I have been having problems with the bullets wanting to set back in the cases. I have read, and believe that this will increase chamber pressures, possibly to an unsafe level particularly in the .40 S&W. I believe that it is occurring from chambering the same load multiple times when loading and unloading the gun. I am using them in a G 22 and would like to know if anyone else has had this problem Thanks
Haven't noticed any set back yet on mine. How many re-chamberings are we talking about?

Quite a few, I try to dry fire practice at least once or twice a week. I really don't want to have to set a round aside and throw it away every so often at that price. I haven't noticed this on Win. Silvertips so I am right now keeping one of those in the pipe and the rest as GDHPs.

ZZZ,
I am concered about the same potential for Kb you described in the Caliber corner with your .40 S&W.

I would advise against rechambering a round over and over and over again. That goes for any different brand of ammo.

Gore,
How do you go about dry fire practice or routine loading and unloading without wasting a lot of expensive ammo? Every time you shoot a match or practice, unless you use your good carry loads you have to unload and then reload when finished. Thanks

Gore is right, use A-Zoom snap caps, they are CNC precision machined with a hard anodized finish. Much better than the plastic types. They are great for dry fire practice and testing function of your weapon and magazines.:)

I manually chamber the "in the pipe" round by droping it in rather than cambering it from the mag.

If I have unloaded a round several times, I set it aside and as long as it is in decent shape I shoot it the next time I go out. Gold Dots are not the most expensive stuff out there.

I can't think of a gun where that wouldn't be BAD.

I can't think of a gun where that wouldn't be BAD. That's what I was thinking, but last week there was someone said it's fine to do in Berettas. I'm not familiar with Berretas so I wasn't sure, either way I never do it with my guns.

Its also OK in Kimbers with the external extractors.
