Never understood the difference between a Halibut and a Flounder.
Halibut are just BIG flounder!
Anyway ... we use to go (gigging) floundering when I was in high school/early college. A great excuse to wade around in water up to our knees with spears and drink beer. I'd usually catch enough to feed my family a nice flounder Sunday dinner.
Ummmm good. Those were good times.

Wow... that's going back more than 20 years. Probably didn't bother to take a photo back then, but we'd catch them this size all day long.

Flounders too.
:)
BTW - Never gig them in the side like that unless you like the gritty taste of sand. Aim for just behind the head.

Rocket J. Squirrel: Look, Bulliwinkle, a message in a bottle.
Bullwinkle: Fan mail from a flounder?
Rocket J. Squirrel: This is what I really call a message.

What I want to know-
Is it appropriate to flog your flounder before you grill it?
I do not ever want be accused of being an improper flounder flogger.
